Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Guzman.
Hi Rose, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve enjoyed taking photographs ever since I could remember! One of my dear friends needed a photographer for her blog, so I volunteered, and that’s where it all began. She encouraged me to start taking photographs, considering how much I enjoyed photography. So, I began with family sessions for family and friends, and now I offer portrait & wedding photography as a professional photographer. That’s nice to say! I never imagined I’d be doing what I love.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Following one’s dreams is never a smooth road. That hasn’t been my experience, anyway. Of course, I was met with quite a few challenges that made me pause my career as a photographer. I’m thankful for that setback, though. I took the time to recharge and discovered that photography wasn’t just a hobby. Photography is a passion!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Proposal Photographer based out of Dallas; however, my services extend throughout Texas and beyond! I am known for capturing surprise proposals for the most in-love couples!
I am most proud of continuing to follow my dreams as a professional Portrait & Wedding photographer!
I have 10 + years of experience as a hairstylist and makeup artist and working with the public, which sets me apart from others as a photographer.
Being able to save the day by applying my makeup and hairstylist skills has undoubtedly come in handy! I am not shy when it comes to meeting others. I can quickly spark up a conversation. And I go above and beyond to ensure my clients feel super special while working with me because they are!
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice for finding a mentor is to check out YouTube or your local photographers who offer mentorship programs. Attending styled shoots is another excellent place to meet other wedding vendors, which helps with networking. So far, this has worked for me.
