Meet Rose Ramos of Mckinney, Tx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Ramos.

Hi Rose, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story of how I started as a hair stylist started in high school. I was enrolled in the cosmetology program at McKinney high school for 2 years and graduated with my cosmetology license. I’ve always had a passion for all things beauty and knew this is what I wanted to do for a living. I started off working as an apprentice in a salon suite with a few others. After a while I transitioned to a few other salons as well as full body waxing at one point. During Covid I decided to finally open up my own business to have more flexibility for me and my daughter. Bella – rose salon was then born ! Bella-Rose derives from my daughter , Isabella-rose , as well as my name combined. It also means beautiful rose. It was tough in the beginning as you can imagine starting during Covid but after almost 5 years of being on my own I can say I’m pretty successful and stay booked.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was definitely not a smooth road. I think the main thing was that I was a teen mom. There were many moments where I had to make up my cosmetology hours due to challenges I had to face but no matter what my teacher was always understanding and I worked hard to get to where I am today. That’s a whole other story in itself but I tried many different salons and even switched from hair to just full body waxing. I knew I always ended up wanting to go back full time to all things hair. I also started in the middle of covid and left an only hair-cutting salon. So I had to build up my clientele from ground up , take classes to learn more on color , blowouts and extensions. It took many trial and errors as well as tight months. At some point I definitely had to have another small part time job.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed cosmetologist who specializes in Hair color and hair cuts for the whole family. I’m most proud of the fact that I can see the vision of anything a client hands me and bring it to life. It’s very exciting and rewarding! I think what sets me apart from others is that I am family friendly. I invite anyone and everyone into my salon. I have a few extra spots for kids and family to sit in. I have my candy bowl that’s constantly raided and stocked. I keep it professional as well as personal with my clients. I’m always all ears and no matter what I will make it right so you’re happy with the end result.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think in 5-10 years the industry will constantly just change with current trends and new techniques. People are always going to want to/ need to get their hair done. I think it’s up to the stylists to keep on top of the changes and take classes to refresh our minds.
