Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosieta Williams.
Rosieta, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started out doing hair when I was a teenager 15 years ago. It was my way of making money to support my son and I. As I got older, I realized that I would like to make being a hairstylist my career. I attended cosmetology school at BatonRouge Community College located in Louisiana in 2017, where I graduated in May 2019. During my time in school, my teacher would always say, “you need to find your nitch.” I never knew exactly what she meant until we started studying makeup, which I fell in love with. I currently reside in Lewisville, TX and have my beauty suite located in Grapevine, TX.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it hasn’t been an easy road, but it has all been well worth it. I had to figure out how I would be able to move from one state to another with having a son. Also, figuring out how the beauty industry works for the proper licenses to operate, taxes, etc. But most importantly, how to advertise to get business considering that I wasn’t from this area.
Belle Beatz – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am an all-around makeup artist/influencer. Meaning I can do varies types of makeup applications and I also do promo in exchange for products for various company’s. I’m most proud of being published in Essence Magazine as a Halloween Cutie in 2019 as part of The Crayon Case. What sets me apart from others is my personality. I love making every person feel at their best and leave with a smile.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me, success is making your passion your career. I have no criteria as long as I’m enjoying what I do while making money at the same time.
