Meet Ross Wissner and Steve Peters of 2020 Companies in Texas Motor Speedway

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ross Wissner and Steve Peters.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I had the fortunate push from my father who identified early that I was able to understand people and help them. Working for such companies as Pepsi-Cola, Frito-Lay, Campbells Soup, and Boston Beer company enabled me to gain invaluable experience selling, managing, and leading all aspects of business. At each company, I found myself with a brilliant manager, many of whom I credit for helping craft my business skills, each manager, just like my father, pushed me to do things that at first was uncomfortable. Each discomfort was followed with learning and development which lead me to my current role overseeing all Operations for a Sales and Marketing agency responsible for helping some of the largest brands succeed. My background in sales has given me a unique lens uncommon in an Operations role.

Has it been a smooth road?
As a venerable sales person, it was a very humbling experience to be thrust into leading new organizational functions (HR, Information Services, Talent Acquisition) with no prior experience. Each required much trial and error among surrounding yourself with great people. I compare my career to that of a personal challenge accomplished in 2012, summitting Kilimanjaro. At times you felt uncomfortable, at times you felt unequipped, but through those struggles……..you realize it takes grit and confidence to succeed.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the 2020 Companies story. Tell us more about the business.
2020 Companies is a Sales and Marketing Agency specializing in building world class brands using our employees to engage and active consumers. Using our team, we design and execute Experiential Marketing, Merchandising, and Direct Sales programs for such brands as Samsung, NRG, and Verizon to ensure forever customers. Some of our shining moments include (1) building a sales team of over 900 people within 45 days when our competitors could not (2) 3PL Partner of the year for Bose and (3) achieving an industry leading speed to hire that is 5 days faster than our competitors

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We see it happening constantly, the retail landscape continues to face shifting consumer patterns. Greater disposable income is spent through online retailers while many major Brick and Mortar retailers close doors. it is no secret that consumers are smarter and have greater access to information. This means retail sales associates need to adapt to this knowledge gap and be better prepared to address shoppers where they are in the process. Digital and technology will continue to influence delighting consumers, at retail, through engagement, experience and excellence.
