Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxanna Contreras Balderas
Hi Roxanna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for music and the arts. I started taking random pictures in high school using a camera I took from my older brother…So happy he never asked for it back. I continued using the same camera through high-school and throughout college. A few years ago, my husband bought me a new camera since I loved taking pictures of our adventures. The love for taking pictures just grew when he had our son.
My son was definitely my muse.
I felt like had an eye for things.
I remember in 2022, just contemplating the idea of a photography business.
My family and friends kept pushing me to start my photography business.
So I did.
On September of 2022 I started…it was just a hobby and it grew into a small business.
It is now my career and passion.
I get to work on own terms and a schedule that better fits my family’s schedule and needs.
I get to be with my son and not miss any milestones he achieves. My son gets to be with me or join me on this journey.
So blessed that now, I am taking pictures all over the DFW of wonderful families, individuals, and small businesses. Honestly, I can’t wait to make more memories and capture more memories for my clients and future clients. Looking forward to the future and more collaborations.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I feel like it hasn’t always been easy.
There were time I doubted myself and my abilities. Imposter syndrome is real.
And well, just balancing life was hard.
For example,
when I started I was dealing with PPD, being a working mom , and trying to create a business.
I felt like I was all over the place at times.
It was definitely challenging but I knew I could do it.
I remind myself I can do it. Luckily, I have a great support system that keeps me going and pushing me. It has got easier along the way.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am photographer here in the DFW.
I am located in the Oak Cliff area.
I don’t have a specialty. I do a little bit of everything. From family portraits to branding. From content creation to videography. I am a little different from others in the way I want to help anyone the best that I can whether you’re an individual, family or business. Definitely what makes me different is I want to stay budget friendly so I can remain affordable to anyone that needs services.
I am super passionate and super patient with little ones. I am just your neighborhood friendly photographer. I want to provide exceptional service to my moms, business owners and help them grow their business or take unforgettable memories.
I am proud of the
quality service, quality photos, and memories, love & art that I have created in this journey.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My parents are my biggest role models and supporters throughout this photography journey.
My father is my biggest role model, he has ran a successful soccer league for almost 20 years here in Dallas, he has given me the motivation to find a passion and love for something in this life.
He is such a great leader and has had a passion for soccer. I have always wanted to find something I love just like he has. I admire all he has done and how he helps people he has met in his league.
Lastly, My mother she has been the greatest supporter in this journey. She does not allow me to give up on anything I have set my mind to. She gives me my peep talks. She keeps from giving up and constantly pushes me. She helps in anyway she can.
Honestly, I would not be where I am without my parents. I am blessed to have them.
