Today we’d like to introduce you to Rudra Raval.
Rudra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started taking photos as a hobby in middle school and as I learned the working of cameras and editing, I slowly began to devote more time to it. I started with Lightroom and tried my hand at trying to make my pictures look like all the influencers’ on Instagram. Over time I learned that I don’t need to copy others and that’s when I started making my photos the way I wanted them, not the way I thought others would like or comment on. A friend and I both share this passion and we have tried to develop our skills as much as possible. The main issue we face is a limited opportunity as we have to balance photography with school work and extracurriculars. Our limited opportunities where we did get to take photos have been great though. We both have developed lots from when we started and now the next goal is moving on to photography with models.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, I am still in school and balancing school work with photography and extracurriculars and my regular family as social life is difficult and has made it so that I don’t get many opportunities to go and take pictures.
Tell us more about your work.
I take photos and I am an individual although I often link with a friend on photoshoots. I believe I express a different perspective on what I shoot because many professional photographers are not in my generation.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’ve been lucky to be able to have what I had to start with and have what I have right now to work with. I haven’t had any bad luck yet but I’m still only starting so much is yet to come.
