Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Butler.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ryan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Flunked Records started from the basic idea of “if everyone else can do this, I can do this!”
Flunked started off as a way to not only release my original material to all major music sites but a way to help other up and coming producers that get over looked by big labels because they don’t have the following the label’s want or the image the label’s are looking for.
We started off with a small core roster of local producers in Dallas and are now international with tracks signed from artists from Ireland, Puerto Rico and more!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
So far, it’s been smooth sailings for the most part! We’ve received a lot of support from multiple outlets like ThisSongSlaps and Dallas Observer as well as many North Texas based podcasts like Electric Retox and Festicast!
Hard to ask for more support than we’be gotten in the short amount of operational time!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Flunked Records – what should we know?
Flunked Records is a Dallas based house music record label!
We specialize in house music and it’s various sub-genres and that’s where our main focus is! We really don’t release anything besides House and that’s what sets us apart.
From Wanz Dover’s write up in the Dallas Observer; “Along with Audiophile, Grin Trax and Dolfin, Flunked Records has given a voice to Dallas house producers. What sets Flunked apart from its local label peers is its singular focus on house music.”

A big part of the credit for some of the success that Flunked has achieved goes to our roster of artists that release their great tracks with us! We literally wouldn’t be here without them! A special acknowledgement goes to LittleHuman, who helps works as Flunked’s A&R!
