Meet Sabra Edgmon of Burleson, Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabra Edgmon.

Hi Sabra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been dedicated to the hairstyling craft for a decade. Growing up in Burleson, I became licensed in Colorado, and after returning home, I rebuilt my clientele following the pandemic. Over these ten years, I’ve continuously invested in my education, learning from leading independent stylists and seizing every opportunity to grow. In the past few years, I’ve honed my expertise, specializing in vibrant colors and blondes. I’ve created a welcoming space that blends elegance with alternative flair, ensuring every guest enjoys a luxurious and comfortable experience. It’s been an incredibly rewarding journey, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. I moved back to Texas before the pandemic, and rebuilding my clientele in a new state was already a significant challenge. Then, the pandemic hit, which brought its own set of difficulties in further rebuilding and adapting. Balancing that with raising my two children added another layer of complexity.

Navigating these hurdles meant not only rebuilding my reputation but also finding a community that valued my creative approach, particularly in vivid and alternative hair. It took time to establish myself and to ensure that my unique style resonated with the local clientele.

Additionally, finding the balance between work and motherhood was another significant challenge. Over time, I reimagined my workspace, transforming it into a beautifully gothic, Victorian-inspired haven that reflects my creativity. This not only provided an inspiring environment for me but also made clients feel more at ease and connected to my vision. Reflecting on this journey, I’m proud of how these challenges have shaped both my craft and my space, creating a welcoming and artistic environment for everyone.”

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in alternative hair, embracing bold, creative beauty through vivid styles and innovative color techniques. I love pushing the boundaries of color and creativity, making each look a unique expression of individuality.

At the same time, I have a deep passion for blondes, working across a full spectrum of tones to create looks that are carefully curated and uniquely tailored. It’s this blend of bold, vivid creativity and the art of sophisticated blonde beauty that truly defines my craft.

I’m incredibly proud of the community I’ve built, where every appointment feels like hanging out with friends. It’s a joy to help people feel beautiful and confident, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see my clients embrace their individuality.

I’m also honored to have been recognized in the local community, being in the top 10 of the Best of Awards from our local picks. These accolades reflect not only my dedication but also the genuine love and support from my clients. Ultimately, it’s the blend of creativity, community, and genuine connection that truly sets me apart.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice for finding a mentor and networking is to seek out spaces where you can truly be yourself. The more authentic you are, the more likely you are to attract like-minded individuals who appreciate your artistic vision. I’ve found that collaborating with people whose work I admire not only helps me elevate my own skills but also sets a higher bar for what I expect from myself. Surrounding yourself with talented individuals gives you a meaningful goal to strive for, which is invaluable.

Additionally, thanks to social media and the internet, it’s easier than ever to discover and draw inspiration from incredible hair artistry. We’re fortunate to live in a time when technology brings the entire beauty industry to our fingertips, allowing us to continuously learn and evolve. The beauty industry is ever-evolving, and staying connected to that flow is key.
