Meet Sabra Marie of Heart for Heart Beauty in East Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabra Marie.

Sabra, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2017, I decided I wanted to open my own beauty supply store. However, I was unsure of where to start. A friend told me I needed to stop deferring my dream and take action. He encouraged me to start a plan of progress towards my dream and incorporate it into my life; even if it was just reading about the type of business I wanted to start. With much prayer and not much thought, things started to fall into place. My fiancé at the time asked me to look at some locations for him. After speaking with the owner of a building, I scheduled a viewing. Inside the building was everything I needed to start a retail store. I was amazed but discouraged at the same time because I thought my credit would not be good enough to obtain the building. Believe it or not I qualified for the storefront, but later found out the building needed a lot of improvement. This project took more time and money than I had. I decided to level the playing field and make one side of the building a salon to generate additional revenue.

I continuously worked on trying to get the beauty supply opened, but eventually became discouraged again. A friend of mine came to me and said, “no matter how hard you try to make it perfect, it will never be perfect.” The following day I contemplated on identifying the right date and time for an official grand opening. That date and time wasn’t revealed to me until now. Two years later, I am still in business and just now having my official grand opening. I am also introducing Texas one and only mobile beauty supply store on November 15, 2020. A renovated 21 passenger shuttle bus converted into a mobile beauty supply store. It has vinyl floors, beautiful lighting, and lots of shelfing. The layout is an actual store on wheels. I have beaten myself up for many years thinking I wasn’t doing enough, only to have an extraordinary outcome.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to success has been very bumpy. Most people say if you make it past your first year you’ll be ok, but honestly that’s not true. Everyone’s timeframe will be different. My biggest struggle is letting speed bumps discourage me, but they’re actually necessary. Finding successful people with positive energy kept me motivated and kept me going!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Heart for Heart Beauty story. Tell us more about the business.
The name of my business is Heart for Heart Beauty. I have a salon and a mobile beauty supply store. I wanted to use a name that had meaning behind it. I want to eventually open a non-profit organization that has the same name. Heart for Heart is continuously committed to providing excellent customer service and using corrective criticism to become a better company. I want people to see that I put my heart into all services provide, in exchange for a long-term friendship (which includes every customer’s heart). I understand that I won’t please everyone, but I’m committed to trying to.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in lessons and consequences. I believe there’s a consequence to all actions. Your consequences can be positive or negative based on the decisions you choose to make.
