Meet Sade Henry of Free Your Mind Radio in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sade Henry.

Sade, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my journey as an artist (Singer/Poet/Emcee/Songwriter) under the name of eDas The Soul Star. After moving back to DFW from Houston in July of 2015, I felt let down by the music industry. I decided to go in another direction. After talking with one of my closest friends/music producer, Mello, he suggested I get into radio. He reminded me of when I expressed to him that one of my goals was to get into radio and that It only made sense considering I earned by B.S. Communication degree from the University of Phoenix in May of 2010. So, August 25, 2016, is when I had the first episode of Free Your Mind w/ The Soul Star. (The show is now known as Hustle + Motivate The Podcast) From then on, I seemed to inspire a lot of people to do the same thing. After meeting back up w/ an old childhood friend, Jamerlyn Watkins, aka JSlim, we knew we met up again after many years for a reason bigger than us. So, he eventually became a member of my show, From then on, his ideas began to grow and we decided it was best he create his own show. In order to ensure that we would have a secure home for our respective radio shows, JSlim and I agreed to form FYMRadio.com, our very own internet radio station. After coming together on this idea, we’ve realized just how necessary we are for the creatives in our communities in DFW.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Ha! Am I being punked?! But seriously, there’s nothing smooth about the road to success, honey! Certainly not for me. I realized not only my passions at an early age but also my purpose in life. I know that my purpose in life is to be of service. I know with this in mind, the road will be difficult because there’s a light in me that makes the world the brightest wherever I go, but I am always cautious of those who do not like me for that very reason. The world is what it is. I’ve had to deal with so many egos, it’s unreal. Especially from older men. But, then I had to go within. I had to find my peace. And to remember the reason I work so hard. There are people who need me. So I keep going. It’s my purpose.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
So…Free Your Mind Radio is an Internet Radio Station headquartered in North Dallas. We are a startup, but we’ve got some promising endeavors on the horizon. We are an iRadio hub for creatives who want to create their own radio show/podcast, small-large businesses who are looking for affordable, effective and fun advertising, people looking to create their own career in the world of iRadio & Audio Visuals, and those who want to create their own YouTube Channels. I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in only four months. I don’t want to give away too much, but just keep watching. What sets us apart from other iRadio Stations is that we are a group of Millenials who have created a station for personalities by personalities. We believe in turning our paying personalities to paid personalities. This is the most direct way to invest in yourself and expect a return on your investment. We also assist our team members with marketing.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as not having to worry about how the bills will get paid. Always seeing the big picture, while never skipping over the details and living a life of gratitude. Everything else will fall into place.
