Meet Sal Cruz of Dallas Movie Time

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sal Cruz.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
October 2014 was the first rental I started with a simple projector and backyard blowup screen. Looking for extra weekend money. Before I knew it the phone would not stop ringing for weekend movie screen party rentals. I got popular pretty quick due to my low prices, great attitude and excellent customer service. Of course, I had to get my name out there first. So I took an online crash course on how to build a website. Determined to DYI everything I possibly could I learned to code my own websites and SEO so I did. I started with a simple static website that got the job done. But as my customer base grew I coded a dynamic website and got even more customers. I upgraded my equipment slowly and added more equipment setups as I could financially, keeping in mind I had to build these setups I could not just go to the store and buy them.

So a few years went by and I started getting bigger customers like HOA and Local Cities renting my equipment and services. Now I have yearly and monthly rentals from bigger customers routinely while still serving my smaller back yard customers. As I keeped getting bigger by word of mouth and my website. I got bigger financially so I decided to add more equipment for my customer’s events. I always got ask to provide more equipment so they only had to deal with me. I gladly added many different types of bounce houses, bubble ball games, foam pits, fog pits, arena fighting, drive-in movie theaters and FM receivers, DJ service, pa speakers, wireless mics, fog, popcorn machines, snow cone machines, and my latest a full retro arcade party truck that I also provide the option to bring the arcades inside to the customers event room. I glad to say now we provide full services to the local cities for their events.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Challenging I would have to say it mostly been financially trying to grow, buy more equipment. I did finally achieve my goal with equipment I needed.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dallas Movie Time – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At the time I was the only one doing big movie events. My proud moment are my word of mouth from my customers. And all the repetitive customers.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Plans. I would say be the biggest event party rentals company in North Dallas.
