Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Allen.
The story of Longhorn Locker Company and our affiliate companies, AIM and Champion Construction, started when John Allen completed his service in United States Army and began working in Michigan as a tool and die maker. John would go on to spend several years working with Wycliffe Bible Translators in remote areas of Mexico. Eventually John, and his wife Sue, settled their family in southern Dallas County and started John Allen Construction Company.
In the 1980’s, John put his remodeling business on hold and started a locker company in his barn. This business offered the assembly and installation of steel lockers for various manufacturers in the North Texas area. The whole family was involved and this is where Sam Allen started his locker career, installing and building lockers on different Longhorn Locker projects.
The locker company was sold and John began installing high-end wood lockers in Country Clubs and Fitness Centers. Traveling extensively during the 90’s and early 2000’s John Allen Construction installed lockers in some of the most prestigious PGA and Country Clubs in America. Meanwhile, Sam Allen was with the Marine Corps fulfilling his enlistment.
After his time in the Marines, Sam Allen got back into the Locker Industry. The inauguration of Longhorn Locker Company happened in the early 2000s. In it’s growing stages Longhorn Locker Company manufactured and installed lockers for an assortment of different projects including schools, hospitals, and athletic facilities. Sam and John purchased land and facilities in Venus, a city just south of Dallas county, to serve as the home of Longhorn Locker Company
Although Longhorn Locker Company was quickly gaining a reputation for the highest quality lockers and installation in the industry, Sam was not satisfied. Sam saw an evolution coming to the athletic facilities and equipment industries and was determined to make Longhorn Lockers a key player in the future. His vision was to produce the highest quality custom made and designed lockers with a modern look that would be desirable to athletes of today. Longhorn Locker’s other goal, make everything American made and in their own facilities.
In acquiring extensive industrial cutting-edge manufacturing machinery and a design team of their own on-staff engineers, American Independence Manufacturing, or AIM, was established in 2011. Longhorn Locker Company was now ready to take the lead in industry design, manufacturing, and installation. Sam and his team at Longhorn would go on to revolutionize the athletic locker and receive multiple US patents for their designs with over 16 Pending Patent applications to this day.
Since 2005 Longhorn Locker Company has seen continued growth and success across the entire country working with athletic programs at professional, collegiate, and student levels and provided services for local police departments, gun clubs, and sports medicine practitioners. In the desire to offer complete remodeling of locker rooms and athletic facility spaces with cohesive designs Champion Sports Construction was founded by John’s other son, Benji Allen.
Though the Longhorn Locker Company family and vision has grown exponentially, the leadership team still runs all aspects of day-to-day operations. Sam Allen serves as CEO and travels to meet with each customer face to face, personally designs every project, and performs final quality assurance inspections on-site and in the manufacturing facilities. John Allen now serves as CFO and is an integral part of all aspects of our business. Benji Allen serves as COO at Champion Construction providing unique design and vision in new facilities and remodeling facilities and also supporting in our daily operations.
Longhorn Locker Company is proud to have partnered with the following athletic programs- 2019 National Champions LSU, 2018, 2016 National Champions University of Alabama, 2017 National Champions Clemson University, 2012-1013 National Women’s Volleyball Champions University of Texas, 2013 Rose Bowl Stanford University, The Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, LA Rams, KC Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Georgia University, Auburn University, University of Texas, Oklahoma State University, Texas Christian University, Wisconsin University, University of Tennessee, Tarleton State University, DBU, MLS Houston Dynamo’s, and numerous high schools.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road for Longhorn Locker Company’s success has been a long and winding one. We were trying to establish our brand with a vision beyond what anyone else in the industry was doing and in a time in which the economy was shaky. There have absolutely been times of disappointment and frustration that I’m sure come with starting any company. For our unique company, we have always relied on and supported each other internally enough to push through any adversity we may have faced. Our parents instilled in us the core values that we have built our company on at a from a very young age and we believe staying true to those values and our vision will allow us to continue to succeed.
