Meet Sam Jorgensen of Lash and Brow Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Jorgensen.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sam. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been in the beauty industry for eight amazing years now. I have always gravitated towards art and beauty and have a natural eye for style and symmetry. As a kid I was always the bossy one and would insist on planning out my own birthday parties or any little shows we put on for play time, and yes, it always had to look pretty too. We were poor growing up and I was raised by a single mother who was an immigrant and only became a citizen of the U.S. when I was around 12 years old. She was insistent on providing us a better life and in our household organization, integrity and follow-through were everything. I attribute the success and quick growth of my little salon today to my mother. Since then I like to think I have honed that bossiness into leadership skills but I still like things to look pretty. I went on to study Art in college but was lost for many years after leaving school, like most college students, because I didn’t know what I could or should do as a career. Soon everything fell into place and I found myself in beauty by chance. At the time I was working in the airline industry and also had a part-time gig as an eyebrow threader in the mall, my passion blew up from there. I had clients flocking to come to me and so it dawned on me… I need to go into the beauty industry! It was a big disappointment to find out I would need to go back to school to get my cosmetology license. I think the day I told my mom that I went to university for “no reason” and had spent all that money and time on an out of state education, she was a little unhappy, but being the supportive mother she is she didn’t say much. So that’s what I did, I went to beauty school and my passion and clientele grew from there. Lash&Brow Boutique was born several years later and I now realize my college Art training was not for “no reason” instead it helps me every day with making others look and feel beautiful.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it’s never a smooth road but I’m reminded of a quote I love and have had to remind myself of throughout my salon career “a comfort zone is a beautiful place but nothing ever grows there”. When I was first starting this little salon of mine there were a few people along the way that I put too much trust in. I would pour my whole heart into helping make their dreams come true hoping that it would help propel me in the right direction. I’ve since learned that it’s great to invest in people and to give to others but you have to be smart and guarded at the right times too. Another thing that has been a reoccurring theme for me is being underestimated; people don’t always take a young woman with big hopes and dreams seriously. Now that I see Lash&Brow Boutique continue to grow into this great thing I have the confidence that it’s not going anywhere, so being underestimated isn’t such a bad thing anymore, instead it’s a fun challenge to see people’s faces when we blow their minds with our ideas.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Lash&Brow Boutique – what should we know?
Lash&Brow Boutique is a salon that provides real women and men high-end services that enhance their natural beauty. Many salons offer eyelash and eyebrow services but we pride ourselves on our quality product and service. The key to the great service we give to our guests is continuing education; I’m almost obsessed with it! We always want to be up on the latest and greatest of what the beauty industry has to offer. Some of our most popular services at Lash&Brow Boutique include our Volume and Classic Eyelash Extensions, Eyelash perming, Permanent Makeup including; Eyeliner, Shaded Brows and Microblading. We also do threading, waxing and eyelash/eyebrow tinting.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
What I feel is most important to my success is creativity and the ability to dream big and be organized and strategic enough to make those goals a reality also being honest and nice to people really pays off too. I’m learning the best thing you can do is surround yourself with mentors who are smarter than you and learn from them.
