Today we’d like to introduce you to Samaria Thomas.
Samaria, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story began years ago when I was first introduced to the concept of entrepreneurship by one of my then mentors who taught me about the power of business, ownership and leverage. As I became more exposed to the freedom and lifestyle that owning a business had to offer, I knew that ultimately this was the path that I wanted for my future. Looking back, I can remember just casually sitting, watching HGTV and being completely fascinated by the fact that there were so many opportunities in the real estate industry– from residential to commercial to investing. The possibilities were endless.
One day, while going through the process of buying my first home, I was presented with the million-dollar question that changed my life forever. I was asked, “have you ever thought about becoming a real estate agent?” At that time, I was working a full-time job and was at a crossroads in my life where I was not happy with my current situation. I knew that I wanted more. The question was so simple yet profound because it was raised, I believe, at just the right time. The fact that I could combine having a flexible work schedule with helping people achieve their dreams of home ownership all made sense to me. Today, I am so thankful that I trusted God and took the leap of faith to pursue real estate as a career. This journey has been a very rewarding one for me, as it has allowed me to meet some of the most amazing clients, build some strong partnerships and learn from amongst the best in the industry.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
By no means has it been a smooth journey. I was very eager and excited about starting my real estate career, but financially, I was not in a position to just quit my full-time job cold turkey. I remember for months, working my usual 10-hour shifts at night; then turning right back around to work “full time” in real estate during the daytime. I was always sleep-deprived and functioned on as little as 3 to 4 hours of sleep per day; sometimes none. At that point, I had just a few clients and providing them with professional and excellent customer service was my number one priority; so that’s exactly what I did.
I hosted open houses, answered every call, was at every showing appointment, and I kept doing that for as long as I could until I was able to transition into real estate full-time. Thankfully, I had so many wonderful people around me that supported and encouraged me to keep going whenever I felt like giving up. With that said, I realized very early on in my career that your drive and perseverance will take you a long way. There is always something to be learned along the journey.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a local Realtor® in the DFW metroplex, and I work primarily with first time home buyers and sellers in residential real estate sales. I am best known for always trying to go a step above to listen to my client’s vision, understand their long term goals and delivering the results. What sets me apart is my boutique-style approach and customer service. I am easily accessible and I take the time to educate my clients so that they have the knowledge that they need to approach the home buying or selling process with confidence. In the end, my goal is to ensure that my clients are always happy and that they walk away with having a great experience. Whenever I receive a referral from a past client, I can say that this is something that makes me most proud. Referrals are the heartbeat of my business and that is why I strive to build such strong and lasting relationships with my clients that go far beyond the walls of the business.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Home ownership is a very attainable dream, and I plan to continue fostering relationships within my community by educating, inspiring and being a resource to as many people as I can, on their journey through navigating the real estate market.
