Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Broadus.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Words On Tap was inspired during an unexpected all-nighter in my dorm room during my junior year of College. I couldn’t sleep one night, and because I am a thinker, I found myself in a frenzy of creative grey matter moments and began to write them down.
However, these written dreams stayed in the vault of the notes app in my iPhone until a couple of months after I graduated. My friends and I were sitting around in my apartment, and they were talking about the fitness brand they were establishing, and honestly they inspired me all over again and so I took my nameless dream off the dusty bookshelf in my brain at the time and began to sit there and dialogue with them about what I should call it.
After we threw some names around, Words On Tap just kinda fell in my lap, and I said it out loud, and they both looked at me and boom there it was. The website officially launched on August 30th, 2018, so with that being said, we are extremely young but ready to grow and learn from our community. We aren’t super focused on bringing in the multitudes for money like many other startups. We take things one day at a time in hopes to infect our community with inspiration.
Has it been a smooth road?
Ha! Smooth is definitely not a word I would use to describe this process, there were many struggles along the way, but we are definitely thankful for all of the growing pains. One of the most difficult parts was time management. As the founder, I work a 40+ hour a weekday job that requires a lot of attention and travel outside of the typical 8-5 hours.
In addition to that, I am a full-time graduate student pursuing my master’s degree along with trying to find time for friends and family. On top of that, I had to work with the schedules of the videographers and the individuals that are featured on the site as well.
I was stretched in ways that I never thought I’d be but I can’t express how grateful I am for all of the struggles because it surely has helped me to be a more selfless individual and realize that great things require legitimate sacrifice.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Words On Tap story. Tell us more about the business.
Words On Tap is dedicated to highlighting and promoting the dreams of ambitious individuals who are actively pursuing their dreams. Our website serves as a platform of promotion for people and a stepping stone for those who are dreamers. We want to see God-sized dreams come into reality and we use our website as a spotlight to show the culture love.
We specialize in being people, and that’s what we are most proud of because it is our mission and desire to relate to people on a personal level and take away all of the filters that society builds on the souls of people.
What sets us apart is that we don’t require status or a certain persona. We accept and only want individuals who are willing to be their true selves without the filters to make sure they “fit in.”
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We have plans to hopefully have over 100,000 viewers on our website consistently in order to make sure that our clients are being promoted. We also hope to have a studio and to be actively involved in our community by hosting creative workshops to help young dreamers and entrepreneurs develop their craft.
Finally, we would love to be large enough to hire everyone that currently works on the website for free and pay them enough to where they don’t have to work anywhere else.
