Meet Sara Redmon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Redmon.

Hi Sara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been doing hair for 10 years. In cosmetology school, I actually hated styling and swore to only focus on color. But I was anxious to move out of a small town and ended up here in Dallas before even getting my license. I started at a hotel spa as a receptionist and ended up there for over 5 years. They only offered styling and cuts but that’s where I really started to like styling and fell in love with the idea of luxury experiences. I then salon hopped for about a year trying to figure out what the next step was. I worked at blow-dry bars and other contract companies for styling and I ended up really loving it. I then decided this is where I want to excel and make this something I can do full time. It’s been about four years now and I offer in-home styling services and bridal services only.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been smooth. I think that when you aren’t really happy with what you’re doing, nothing feels smooth. I felt very unsure of what I was doing in the beginning and thought I wouldn’t ever be “successful” even though I didn’t know what that meant for me at the time. Once I really started to focus on what I do now, things started falling into place and it just felt right. I haven’t looked back since.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in blowout and bridal styling although I’m probably known more for my blowouts than bridal styling for the time being. I love more than anything when a client tells me they’ve never had a blowout like I’ve done for them! I truly try to understand what they like and don’t like, and try to give them the best experience possible. I work with a lot of textured hair, which I think a lot of women feel like their curls are hard to tame or that stylists don’t know how to work with their hair type and I want to change that stigma. My goal is to make you feel like the best version of yourself.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I’d really like to get more into the education side of things. I’ve been fortunate enough to come across other professionals who’ve been more than willing to help and I want to give that back to new stylists or stylists who just want to continue learning. I would also love to expand my business with a team and have some fun ideas for a salon but nothing is set so I’m excited to see where I end up!
