Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Dierking.
Hi Sarah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
For much of my adult life, I struggled with my mental and physical health. I was in a career I had settled for, felt turmoil in my relationships, and realized I was trying to be everything to everyone—and failing. One day, I realized that I desperately needed to find a way to step into a life that was more authentic to my needs and desires. I decided to simplify my life and commit to a path of deep self-discovery. In that journey, I realized that the true key to improving my headspace was recognizing the need to get out of my head and into my body. The problem was, I didn’t have the tools to do that—so I enrolled in massage school to learn the foundational mechanics of the body. Not long after starting my practice, I ended up experiencing a series of traumatic events which resulted in chronic pain. In searching for my own healing, a friend suggested CranioSacral Therapy (CST). CST is a light touch therapy that incorporates all systems of the body, mind and spirit and is an excellent technique for nervous system regulation. The relief I felt was transformative—it was like someone finally gave me my brain back! I knew immediately this was the key I had been searching for, both for myself and for my clients. I signed up for training right away. CranioSacral Therapy has fundamentally changed how I approach my work and my life. It taught me the value of following my inner wisdom, self-acceptance, and compassion, principles I integrate into every session. I’ve now been practicing CST for over six years and regularly serve as a teaching assistant with the Upledger Institute, passionately sharing this work with others.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not smooth, Ha! Moving through the pandemic was a rough period, then recovering from chronic stress and burnout, and then becoming a new mother on top of everything else. I definitely have a wealth of wisdom acquired through this career path and a deepened sense of empowerment within myself.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My practice, Hello Sunshine Healing, aims to support others who feel the call to know themselves beyond the pain of their experiences.
I offer customized sessions that also blend CranioSacral Therapy, therapeutic massage, lymphatic drainage, and energy work.
Each session is as unique as the individual experiencing it and can help ease symptoms of stress, headaches, and chronic pain.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Life is risk. I’ve definitely taken major risks and have the tattoos to prove it. Ha!
I once gave away most of my things and decided to live the nomadic life with a friend of mine. It was one of the most enriching and important experience of my life to travel this way. With no timeline or destination in mind it left us with many opportunities to meet people and see places in ways that many people choose not to. We traveled mostly along the west coast via car and utilized the CouchSurfing app and getting into nature. I began that journey with only $900 and a massage table and we lived that way for about 3 months. I met so many people, gained an incredible context of the world and it’s issues on a basic human level, and got to really discover how beautiful the land in this part of the world is.
I ended up having to rebuild my career from scratch when I returned to DFW, but honestly, It allowed me to build a better foundation in life and redefine my purpose towards being in service to others.
