Meet Sarah Tullos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Tullos.

Sarah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started working a corporate job in my early 20’s and just assumed I would be stuck there for the rest of my life. After several years of sitting at a desk for 8+ hours a day, working for my boss’s corporate gain, surrounded by miserable people, I was laid off. It was the best thing that could have happened. I decided instead of just going into another job that I didn’t love. I would try to help people online. For the last few years, I found a passion in helping women realize their worth and stop worrying about the size of their bodies or how they are perceived by the shallow society around them. I decided I would try my hand at being an online life coach.

I spend several thousand dollars and months trying to figure out how to be a successful coach. I loved showing people how they could be confident but I hated “selling” myself. The online coaching world just wasn’t for me and it was a harsh reality I was faced with. I decided to stop attaching my happiness to certain outcomes that I had imagined for myself. I decided to try new things, things I was always too scared to try. I started performing stand up comedy and fell in love with the craft right before COVID hit. I love that I am still able to show other women that it’s ok to not have your life figured out. In fact, it’s completely normal. It’s most important to explore and find happiness along the way instead of waiting for your idea of “success” to happen.

Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not! Every single thing was a struggle. Being laid off after giving most of my 20’s to a company was hard. Realizing I had no idea what to do next was hard. Trying to be an online coach and become the person I thought I had to be in order to find online success was extremely hard and uncomfortable. Realizing the coaching gig wasn’t what I wanted it to be was hard. I went through several months of feeling like I was floating without any safe landing in sight. I had to give up my idea of what I thought my life was supposed to be and that’s when I found the courage to try something new (comedy) because what did I have to lose?

We’d love to hear more about your work.
My company was originally intended to serve as a coaching platform to help women realize their true potential. My company has since shifted to more of a brand, a brand with no boundaries for what it can be. I want The Sarah Show to encompass everything I’ve been through and serve as a compass for others who feel lost in their lives. I was The Sarah Show to be an example of what real life is like. Right now, The Sarah Show is just a comedian with a real reel (not highlight reel) Instagram page, but I have hopes that she will eventually be much more.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love how diverse Dallas is. I’m from a small town in West Texas so being in Dallas is a whole new, much bigger world. I like how many options there are for absolutely everything, food, music, comedy, art, all entertainment in general. There’s not much I don’t like about Dallas (besides how pricey it can be). I am proud of how progressive we are as a whole but I also believe we have so much farther to go.
