Today we’d like to introduce you to SaTara Thomas.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m the owner of Evolution of Lashes. I started this business because of my love for eyelash extensions. As a young girl, my mom would always tell me how pretty I was and that I didn’t need makeup, I still felt like I was missing something and then I was introduced to eyelashes by a close friend. She would come over every morning to help me put them on and that was the best makeup I could ever come in contact with. I use to go to the nail shop to get individual eyelashes which was just the start. Over the years, I would always get compliments about my eyelashes and other girls would ask me to help them with theirs. I didn’t think anything of it at the time but it slowly grew into a passion of mine helping others enhance their beauty. In 2018, I was introduced to eyelash extensions video after video my fascination grew and I ended up taking a class to learn how to apply them and that’s how EOL was created!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, starting a business takes time, patience and a lot of planning. Working two jobs, going to school and also starting a business on the side is overwhelming but when you love what you do it’s all so worth it. Running a business has brought me out of so many shells I never thought I would come out of. Speaking in front of people and even walking up to people to tell them about my business was so frightening but when I did it, it felt good to know that I didn’t let my fears overcome me.
Evolution of Lashes – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I started Evolution of lashes in 2018 with the intent to enhance natural beauty. I find joy and fulfillment in creating personal looks for each client. We all want to look and feel beautiful, so what better way to do that than with eyelash extensions. What sets us apart is EOL is not just for women, men can wear them too. EOL is dedicated to more natural styles soft, elegant but still very full, we do offer some dramatic styles I cater to the everyday man and woman who are on the go with not a lot of time to achieve the full glam.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment so far is taking a chance on myself, proving to myself I can start and run my own business. Overcoming my fears and doubt showed me how much of a hustle and business professional I am.
