Meet Scott Pollock of Greater Than Performance and Rehab in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Pollock.

Scott, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Grew up in a single family home where athletics and sports dominated much of my youth…but fast forward to college and I vividly remember at Texas State University when I started turning things around and changed my major from Business (which I was struggling with) to Exercise Sports Science (where I flourished) I had an internship where I trained individuals with disabilities. This was the first time I felt inner purpose and satisfaction helping someone else as opposed to just satisfaction from self-improvement which I was accustomed to. This leads to years of continued education so that I could further help my clients to the best of my abilities, eventually treating chronic pain and neuromuscular disorders. I knew I was being called to something Greater after I finished one of my educational milestones. Then it dawned on me. Greater Than. We are all called to be Greater Than and can overcome any obstacle that life presents us. Built on a team of core values and highly educated minds in their respective fields I started developing my concept of having an all-inclusive Wellness facility with the best health care and fitness practitioners from the area as well as unique and state of the art exercise equipment. That is how Greater Than Performance and Rehab was born.

Has it been a smooth road?
One thing I tell people who ask me this question or someone wanting to start their own business – Expect the best but plan for the WORST. Just about every step along the way we ran into some of the worst potholes possible and I wasn’t number one mentally prepared for that or number two financially or physically prepared. Through sacrifice and suffering we grow and gain strength. We grow with experience and we develop appreciation for success. I’m grateful for the stress, the trials and tribulations because now I can appreciate how far we’ve come and are going to go. If anyone plans on starting a business please reach out to me or have mentors in place to guide you along the way. Going back a few years ago when I started this journey, I wouldn’t change it for the world but I would definitely be better prepared and have a community/village in my corner to slug out the everyday battles with.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Greater Than is home to a diverse and highly skilled group of practitioners including- chiropractic, physical therapy, personal training, strength and conditioning specialists, mobility specialists, medical and traditional massage therapists, group fitness instructors, and nutritional therapists. I pride our company on having the best of the best and having all of a persons wellness needs housed under one roof. I personally specialize in mitigating chronic pain so that people can exercise or move/function better. I use a combination of neurological therapies (NKT, P-DTR) with soft tissue (ART), corrective exercise and movement+strength training for an intensive-therapeutic training session. We are also an educational hub, hosting continuing education courses for healthcare and training professionals each month. We also run an event called Masterminds which meets once a month and has health and wellness speakers and vendors. Lastly, we offer unique training like steel mace, strength conditioning equipment, kettlebell and Keiser pneumatic compression equipment to our clients. We have different memberships available but all services can be used by no members or drop in clients. Above all else everyone on our team are great people and truly care about making a difference in their client’s lives and our community in general.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think it’s a tie between Leadership and Purpose. Granted, I think to be a great leader, you have to have purpose as a driving force. I’ve learned so much about myself in the last few years and learned so much from reading about men and women who are much better at me in these categories than in the rest of my life combined. The more you can grow from within and develop your own character, the better you can lead those around you. Part of being a great leader in my opinion is being able to stay calm in the midst of chaos. Being calm and present to be able to clearly make the best decision possible for that particular situation and in general. With our purpose behind us, which in a nutshell is to change the landscape of holistic health and the health and wellness industry to become all-inclusive and begin bridging the gap between the medical community and the strength and conditioning or holistic community we can develop into industry leaders. We can reward practitioners who place education and self-development high and can bring love to the center of care and to this culture.
