Today we’d like to introduce you to Sergej Marojevic.
Sergej, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After helping various companies to venture into the EV charging space, I decided that I would like to try to solve the problems that I was able to understand in the past decade or so, what the main issues are, and how to approach them without executives’ obstructions due to their lack of vision and technological knowledge. So it led to the birth of Qcharge.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every company’s journey has its battles, and for Qcharge, the road to transforming the EV charging industry has been both thrilling and challenging. What started as a vision to accelerate electrification soon became a lesson in resilience and adaptation.
Funding was our first major mountain to climb. Building large-scale EV charging infrastructure requires heavy upfront capital — permits, equipment, labor, and logistics are all significant expenses before a single charger is even energized. Grants and incentives help, but they often come with slow approval cycles, complex requirements, a lot of political interactions, and are almost impossible to get (we have been unsuccessful in any grant). For a growing company like Qcharge, balancing innovation with financial sustainability has meant learning to navigate the world of investors, partnerships, and government programs with precision and patience.
Then came the human factor — finding experts who truly understand this young, complex industry. EV infrastructure demands a rare blend of electrical engineering, software integration, construction logistics, and regulatory knowledge. Such people are few, and competition for their talent is fierce. We’ve had to train our own, turning electricians into charging specialists, and project managers into problem solvers who can speak both the language of code and conduit.
Bureaucracy proved to be another steep hill. Each city, each utility, and each state speaks its own dialect of rules. The paperwork alone can bury a small team — permits, interconnection approvals, rebate applications — all moving at a pace far slower than innovation itself. Qcharge learned early that persistence and preparation win these battles. We built relationships with utility companies and permitting officials, turning red tape into a process we could predict, if not always accelerate.
And then, there’s manpower — or rather, the lack of it. The electrification boom outpaced the workforce. Skilled labor is stretched thin, with electricians, inspectors, and qualified technicians booked months ahead. We’ve faced moments where equipment was ready, sites were prepared, and yet, there weren’t enough hands to pull cable or mount chargers. Our answer has been to grow strategically, partnering with trade schools, veterans’ programs, and apprenticeship networks to build a pipeline of talent for the future.
All these obstacles — funding, expertise, bureaucracy, paperwork, labor — are part of the reality of pioneering an industry. But they’ve also become our strength. Every delay taught us efficiency; every rejection refined our approach. Today, Qcharge isn’t just installing chargers — we’re building an ecosystem where energy, technology, and people connect seamlessly.
Success in this industry doesn’t come from speed alone; it comes from persistence, adaptability, and the belief that every challenge overcome is one step closer to an electrified future. For Qcharge, those hurdles on the road aren’t barriers — they’re milestones of progress.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Qcharge started as an idea — a simple belief that EV charging should be as intelligent, safe, and reliable as the cars it powers. From that vision, we built something different. We’re not just an installer of chargers; we’re a technology company that designs, engineers, and owns its entire ecosystem — from the hardware to the software that runs it.
What sets us apart is that our software is our own intellectual property, built from the ground up. It’s the brain of every Qcharge system — controlling power flow, uptime, and smart communication across networks. It’s also the reason we can deliver what others can’t: true zero downtime.
Our chargers aren’t just machines — they think, sense, and protect. Each one includes AI-powered cameras and integrated fire suppression systems, capable of detecting hazards, activating safety protocols, and even initiating a charging session automatically. It’s safety, intelligence, and convenience working together in real time. We also developed special chargeing cabinets, especially for public use, to protect cables against theft.
We’re most proud of the trust our technology has earned. When people see a Qcharge station, they see reliability — a system that’s self-aware, resilient, and ready for the future. That’s our brand in one word: dependable.
At Qcharge, we build more than infrastructure. We build confidence in the EV transition — turning every charge into a smarter, safer, and more sustainable experience.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The next 5 to 10 years will completely redefine the EV charging industry — not just in scale, but in intelligence. What’s coming isn’t simply more chargers; it’s smarter, faster, and more connected infrastructure. We’re going to see charging evolve from a standalone experience into part of a much larger energy ecosystem — one where EVs, grids, and renewable sources communicate seamlessly.
AI will lead that transformation. Chargers will self-diagnose, predict failures before they happen, and balance energy dynamically between vehicles and buildings. Wireless charging pads and bidirectional systems (V2G and V2H) will become mainstream, turning every parked EV into a mobile energy asset.
We’ll also see the line blur between transportation and energy storage. Fleets, delivery services, and even apartment complexes will manage energy the same way data centers manage bandwidth — with precision and automation.
At Qcharge, we see our role as the bridge to that future. Our focus on AI-driven safety, zero downtime, and intelligent energy management is preparing us for the next decade — a time when charging won’t just power vehicles, it’ll power entire communities. The industry is heading toward autonomy, resilience, and sustainability — and Qcharge intends to lead that charge. In addition to all this, we believe that the future is in wireless charging, and we are at the early stage of developing our wireless system that can also be integrated into older types of vehicles that do not have wireless capability.
