Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaimiya Blue.
Shaimiya, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
So excited to be able to share a portion of myself to you all! My name is Shaimiya Blue and I was born in Dallas, TX . I grew up in North Dallas right off Forest lane and Audelia Rd. Raised by an amazing strong mother & grandparents who were very dedicated to my up bringing and solid foundation. They play a huge role in my strength and core values instilled in me today.
KTC Consulting started with me being driven and motivated to help others reach their own personal and business goals. My mother and Grandmother were motivated to help individuals in the nursing field which inspired me to take the torch and continue to run but I knew my passion was to help individuals in a business perspective. Educating others on how to improve one’s financial literacy is the best feeling in the world.
Knowing I can make a huge impact on someone else’s life besides my family and I, really take the cake on a much deeper level. See, I grew up in a household where credit was never a topic of discussion. It was more of “If you want things done, you need to work for it” but never in depth of financial literacy. While the statement is very true, incorporating credit changes the game as well. At the age of 18 I was getting out of high school, had just lost my part-time job jumping into freshman year in college with no money to my name.
I decided to take out my first small loan of $400 to pay for a couple of books I needed. I then started my new position the following week able to pay my loan back early. After starting my job, my mindset was to go ahead and pay my $400 loan off so I could knock one less bill! I was warned not to pay off my loan early because it would not make a difference nor a positive impact doing so. My best option was to “Pay per agreement” (pay what you’re supposed to pay when you’re supposed to pay it until its paid off) to help build my credit score.
6 months into paying my loan off I went from no credit to a 770! I never paid attention to credit until one particular day. I decided to get my second loan to help with my car note and groceries holding me over until I got paid the following week. The lady that was helping me seemed confused and skeptical of my credit history. She made the comment “My credit score isn’t even this good”, walked to the back of her office, called the police and stated I was using a fraudulent social security number. I felt horrible, embarrassed and discriminated against because apparently, I did not fit the characteristics of a 770.
At that moment, I realized how much power credit really held over our lives. How much credit power I had at the age of 19. Fast forward, I started working for specialty banks and learning the ins and outs of credit and financial investments. Then proceeded to work part-time with a credit repair company making commission signing people up for services I never got to see. I asked myself ” Are you really helping people?” “Are you financially free?” “Is this truly your business?” And all 3 questions were NO! I was absolutely not happy about signing up individuals and “calling it a day”.
I wanted to be able to be in depth with my clients 1 on 1, to be able to educate and become a financial mentor to them. It’s one thing to help individuals with credit restoration but it’s another when you keep your clients walking in a straight line to financial freedom making sure they don’t stumble off back into square one. My clients reflect my business so if they’re not making progress then I’m not making progress. Starting my own credit consulting business has been the best invest I’ve made for myself thus far.
The amount of time I get to spend with my family is unmatched, I create my own hours and days to work, implement my own strategies, monetary rewarding and most importantly I get to work with my client’s hand and hand for best results. My ultimate goal is to break the mold in several communities where credit is taught as an essential and not just money. Where credit is taught as value and not just money. As well as showing others different leverages on how to turn credit education and investments into a second or full-time source of income. This is just the beginning!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The Challenges I have faced were getting clients to trust me that have already dealt with several credit repair companies prior to reaching out to me. I make sure I explain my services and credit terminology thoroughly so were both on the same page. I like to place myself in my clients shoes. I personally don’t spend money on services without knowing what exactly I’m spending it on and how it will benefit me in the future. So I make sure I clear any questions or concerns that are brought to my attention. Challenges to me are specifically teaching moments that becomes smoother overtime. Giving your client a peace of mind with confidence and assurance goes along way.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
The best advice I could give anyone pertaining to networking is use as many social media platforms that you can. Step out your shell and don’t be afraid to meet and greet. The funny thing is I’m introvert (You would never think that the way I way I interact with my clients), So when I first started my business it was a bit rough trying to find a mentor but with the knowledge of social media, I did. Preferably Instagram has been amazing to me! We live in a day and age where the new normal is virtual. Even though I’m located in Dallas TX that’s not my full target range. I inspire to help individuals in every state possible., therefore I use social media to reach specific audience and drive in traffic. Don’t be afraid to network, expand your mindset as you would want to expand your business!
