Meet Shamail Qureshi of Frisco, Tx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shamail Qureshi.

Hi Shamail, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started photography when I was around 17 years old. My senior year around march 2019 of HighSchool, my uncle was someone in the creative space and he had used a camera (which had later become my first camera that started me on my journey). I had been inspired by him and one day I was given an opportunity to take photos at my school for an event. I took the chance and realized I enjoyed taking photos. There on I had been using this old camera in my house and my first client was actually a family just walking in the neighborhood and that had started my on my path to photography. There on I started doing more portraits for people, had the opportunity to do a clothing brand year 1 of starting and I was actually gifted a flash on top of it. My parents following had gifted me a new camera seeing my passion had started growing and from there it had just gotten better. I had gotten my first graduation photoshoot for a close friend of mine 2022 and then I just got more and more. Then I was given a chance to take on my first big wedding beginning of 2023, I was very nervous but stepping into a place of unknown I was ready to take on the challenge, the couple had only seen my work for graduations never events and they took the chance. Now 2 years later I had the opportunity to take the remainder of the wedding events in 2025. I had become someone who had a knack for trying new things and exploring into the unknown. Now in 2025 I have been doing cultural weddings, big & small. Graduations, even doing event photography for local volunteer groups and I couldn’t have asked for better friends, family and more importantly my uncle whom had passed away before he got to see me succeed. I carry on his memory in my photos and hope to always continue this way.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road, I’ve experienced many ups and downs. Times where people have not enjoyed the work I did when I first started but then I got mentors in the creative space from photographers, videographers, and many other people teaching me tips, tricks in how to do better. There were sometimes where I had thought is it even worth it to keep going if I wasn’t good as the other people. I had been in a place I compared my work to so many others until realizing that it was only the amount of work that I put in only will I become great at something.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am currently a pre-med student studying and working in hopes of getting into medical school and becoming a doctor. A little unsure which doctor but I know helping people is what is in my heart. I do specialize in physical training, I have trained, helped people get into shape, help them fix their diets, bad habits ect. I have been a big fan of sports and starting Highschool I was on cross country and coming into College at UTD in 2022 I had joined the track & field team along side with being an MMA fighter. Being in shape has always been something that keeps me going and knowing that I kept going in sports even though most stop after HighSchool, my proudest moment was knowing I was able to keep training and learn from professionals and other athletes and I used my knowledge to help those who want to get into shape or feel confident within themselves and I am always willing to lend a hand.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
If I could name everyone who deserves credit I would. There have been so many people but the most important was my Uncle, my parents, siblings they told me that no matter what anyone would say just keep doing your own thing and you will meet so many people along your path and I’ve had a few close friends from starting college I got so close to they gave me that outlook to keep going. Those were Noor Siddiqui, Abdullah Riaz, Ahmed Quadri, Mohammad Shariff, Sohaib Akhtar, and these are just the few names out of many who have helped me in my journey from teaching me about angles, learning about lighting, how to take videos, how to color and how to edit. Building a platform, without these people guiding me I wouldn’t be so far in my journey as I am today. The most important person will be my loving wife Dua Khan, she has been by my side late night editing, making contracts, organizing shot list; she has also been my rock on days where I felt like giving up she wouldn’t let me, always to keep me going when I felt like I should stop, days where I would be tired she would help with the work. she deserves the most credit of helping me become more than just a photographer
