Today we’d like to introduce you to Shamonn M. Wise.
Hi Shamonn M. , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been selected to be a part of the Miss Eternity Pageant taking place in Florida in August 2026. This pageant is modeled after the book of Esther, with 6 months focusing on internal development and the latter 6 months focusing on external refinement. I have been a part of multiple mentorship programs (as mentee and mentor) and recognize the value of having sound voices around you as you evolve. In this phase of my life, I have become clearer regarding my purpose and realize that mentorship, which essentially is discipleship, is a part of my purpose. Joining Miss Eternity showed me a few things. First, that there are opportunities for women of God like myself to use their beauty and gifts for the glory of God in fields like pageantry. Second, God was bringing back a small desire to me that was now aligned with the calling He has given me. Finally, this is an opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and learn the Lord in a new way. I am so grateful to be a Miss Eternity delegate, representing Northwest Texas!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am early in the process of Miss Eternity, but so far, it has been a learning process. We have been encouraged to step outside of our comfort zone by seeking sponsorship from our family and the community. Even with the pressure of having to fund this journey, I find myself thinking of creative ways to raise money to challenge myself. I didn’t expect this journey to be easy, but I am looking forward to the ways that I grow in terms of marketing, fundraising, and in my relationship with those in the community and in the Miss Eternity program.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work as a dance educator for a professional dance company in Dallas. I have been blessed to teach dance to many students across the metroplex, and it is my favorite thing to do! Outside of that, I am a graduate student pursuing a Master of Arts in Dance with a concentration in education at Texas Woman’s University. Working with the youth is a passion of mine, and I have a particular interest in pedagogy, or the method of teaching. Like I stated earlier, I have been involved in mentorship programs for many years and am currently a Big with Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentor 2.0 program. What sets me apart would have to be my faith in the Lord, strengthening me and guiding me in everything I do. I am thankful to be doing something that I enjoy, while also pursuing other interests that God has placed within me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck, but I believe in the favor of God. I have encountered many hindrances and successes along my journey, and I know that luck and fate didn’t help me not one bit. It has purely been the power and favor of God that has gotten me through this journey and given me favor when I didn’t necessarily deserve it or earn it. Because of my commitment to the Lord, my life has been transformed, and I am thankful. All glory belongs to the Lord!
