Today we’d like to introduce you to Shana Mayo Richardson.
Shana, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I just had my second child and finished my Bachelor of Fashion Merchandising and Marketing. I wasn’t sure what route I wanted to take, whether I wanted to be a buyer, editor, stylist or fashion entrepreneur. So I got a job in a department store and worked there for a while before I decided on the route of fashion entrepreneur but I still didn’t know how that looked so I just started personal shopping and that’s how I began digital styling and editing which is what The Bauble Life is.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you go by faith, it’s never a smooth road! I have a love for freedom so working a 9-5 job was very unhappy for me. But I understood bills need to get paid so the challenge is the amount of time I have invested what might take someone 90 days to do I might do it in 180 days and have to be strategic.
Please tell us about your work.
I specialize in classic luxury digital styling. Some have said my looks are really expensive but I do that on purpose. Many budget brands get their inspiration from the luxury market so when I style a look. I do it so you can find something similar that doesn’t cost a small fortune.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Tenacity and blinders. I started out being a makeup artist and what ended my growth was the fact I was looking at other artists and wanting what they had so when I got into styling I realized there are a million digital stylists but only one Shana no one can do me as I do me and if I never make a penny that will be ok because I do it for the love of style.
