Meet Shane Spillers of Eno’s Pizza Tavern

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane Spillers.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Eno’s original location opened in 2008 in the Bishop Arts District. Eno’s second location in Forney opened earlier this year and is helping to revitalize the city’s historic downtown area.

Eno’s is known for our cracker-thin crust pizza and a wide offering of local craft beers. We even have a Mug Club for craft beer lovers at both locations. Our Mug Club consists of 100 personalized mugs for members who enjoy perks when they visit us throughout the year. Mug Club membership is highly sought after and people have been known to take off work to be present when the doors open on membership day each February!

Eno’s story with craft beer began on day one. Eno’s was an early and avid supporter of the North Texas craft beer scene and helped establish Brew Riot, a homebrewers’ competition that sprouted several professional breweries around Dallas-Fort Worth.

Last September, Eno’s hosted our first ever TEXtoberfest, an Oktoberfest celebration with a Texas twist. Local breweries and musicians gathered in the Eno’s Biergarten to celebrate all day! Eno’s Side Dough is one of our newest ventures in the Bishop Arts District. Side Dough is next door the restaurant and offers takeout and delivery of Eno’s full menu, plus packaged craft beer & wine.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our success in the Bishop Arts District has prompted others to want to come in and experience that same success. The Bishop Arts District has a familiar neighborhood feel with local shops and dining. There has been a lot of recent development and construction around us, which has caused parking and access issues that have impacted our business. However, the good news is that it is short term, and we hope it doesn’t affect us going forward.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Eno’s Pizza Tavern – what should we know?
Eno’s specialty is our cracker-thin crust; there is nothing else like it in the Dallas market. We incorporate fresh ingredients into our pizzas and source many of those ingredients from other local purveyors. We pride ourselves on knowing who are vendors are and where their product comes from.

I am most proud of our staff. We have an amazing group of dedicated people, many of whom have been with Eno’s for years. One of the best compliments someone can give us is to recognize our hard-working staff who strive to always provide an excellent level of hospitality for all guests. As we grow, we continue to add more remarkable people to our staff who bring new skills and talents to our team.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
It’s not any one thing. It’s a combination of our atmosphere, our hospitality, our neighborhood and the quality of our food & beverage offerings at a good price point. We also use our platform to champion causes that we believe in our neighborhood, such as Brew Riot to support up-and-coming homebrewers and iBike Rosemont, a program that encourages local elementary students to bike to school – and get rewarded with a root beer float at Eno’s!
