Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Savage.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The idea for GoShare started where a lot of ideas start, with a problem. After several bad truck rental experiences, I found myself wishing there was a simpler solution. At the time, I was 31 years old and working in a sales role with a media company. As a fan of sharing economy companies, I wondered if you a similar business model and technology could be used to connect truck owners with individuals like myself, that needed a truck on demand.
Since that solution didn’t exist, I took a leap of faith and decided to make one. I sold my condo, burned through all my savings, and downsized my lifestyle to fund the initial launch of the company. Fortunately, I have a very patient and supportive wife! The service launched in April 2015 in San Diego and New Jersey, and we’ve been growing rapidly ever since.
We were thrilled to come to the Dallas area in November of 2018. Our partnerships with local Costco’s and other retailers have already started creating high-earning project opportunities for local truck and van owners.
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a business is anything but smooth! A better comparison would be a rollercoaster. As a start-up business getting our footing, you have to work through many hurdles from regulations and insurance to market challenges and competition. But, I like to take the attitude that every new mountain to climb gets us closer to the company goals. Not only does facing and conquering these challenges help the company grow, but it also helps me grow as an individual as well.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
GoShare is a software company that specializes in connecting truck and van owners with people and businesses who need help delivering large items on demand. We use proprietary mobile and web applications to make it faster, cheaper and easier to access a fleet of trucks and delivery professionals.
GoShare has a network of independent contractors on our platform. Customers can use our website or mobile apps to order a Delivery Professional (or two) with a truck or van. Typically, the customer is matched with a local Delivery Pro in less than two minutes. Most projects are accepted in less than two minutes.
GoShare really stands apart from other moving and delivery companies, because we focus on using technology to improve the customer experience. Instead of being told to wait at home during a long, multi-hour delivery window, customers can choose their preferred pickup time. They can order someone in as little as thirty minutes. It’s really more convenient and easy than anything else out there.
And, GoShare is proud to offer some of the highest earnings in the gig economy space. Truck and van owners can make between $47 – $71 an hour on our platform, before tips.
By using our software and taking out the traditional middle man, we really are able to offer incredible value for both customers and delivery professionals. Everyone is getting a better experience.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
