Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelley Loomis.
Shelley, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Certainly. Dane and Dale was born out of love for two beloved pets, a Great Dane and an Airedale Terrier. Co-founder, Dallas Cook, and I recognized a niche that was missing in the dog market for classic and functional provisions for large dogs. Inspired by living a boheme lifestyle ourselves, we created a clever brand to reflect a modern life with a dog in the home. Our dog dining tables were the first to make a mark, as we noticed that so many dog owners are conscious about having dog necessities to blend well with the design aesthetic they have chosen in their homes. Whether it is dog dining, collars/leads, or natural grooming products, Dane and Dale is dedicated to quality and impeccable design for pets and their owners alike.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say we were very fortunate in the beginning to receive organic brand exposure. Embarking upon a new business venture is always a bit daunting, but with such passion behind an idea, opportunities seem to follow. We have been very supported by our Dallas community, and have become absorbed into New York and other U.S. markets, and now even a few of our products reach as far as England, France, and Denmark. Of course, we have witnessed the normal hiccups that all new businesses face, but I would not have had it any other way. These growing pains have allowed for some incredible learning experiences.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dane and Dale – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Dane and Dale stands alone in that we originally set out to produce items for larger size dogs (although demand for small and medium items has led us to produce all sizes). We specialize in never sacrificing quality, and our products are uniquely designed and are currently all made by hand in the United States. We are perhaps best known for the option of customization of all our dog dining table collections.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Our city is thriving and growing and exudes a very entrepreneurial spirit. This is refreshing to young, ambitious brands!
