Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherman Holman
Hi Sherman, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I ended up in the moving industry because despite resolving my legal issues I ran into when I was 17-18 years old, around that time I wasn’t making the best choices but I knew my mistakes wouldn’t define me. By accepting a probation sentence I struggled to find stable employment that payed well due to my current legal situation. Moving companies were one of the few jobs that would hire me so I worked for a couple local moving companies and learned the business then in 2017 founded Just Move, a moving company designed to provide reliable and efficient moving services for both residential and commercial clients.
My decision to start Just Move stemmed from my understanding of the moving industry’s inefficiencies. I observed that many moving companies offered either subpar service or inflated prices, leaving clients dissatisfied. Recognizing that, I aimed to create a business that not only delivered excellent service but also operated with transparency and integrity.
The early days had its challenges and difficulties. I’ve had to manage everything from client acquisition to operations with limited initial resources. I quickly had to adopt a hands-on approach, often working long hours to ensure every move went smoothly. I grew to the point where I knew I needed a strong team and reached out to a couple of my friends who graduated in marketing and in computer science to help me build. Since they’ve came on board they’ve help me realize the power of teamwork and my team has been my greatest asset. Business has taught me priceless lessons about leadership and the importance of discipline. Word of mouth and positive reviews are what helped us thrive.
By 2019, we gained some traction and even started a logistics company that focused on LTL and freight. We expanded our fleet and team, and made sure to hire individuals from diverse backgrounds who faced their own employment challenges. We made it a point to provide opportunities for others who had encountered obstacles in the job market.
Today, after many ups and downs we are here in 2024 still looking to grow and take the industry by storm. We’ve learned a lot along the way and have embraced the mantra “it’s a marathon not a race” The company has become known for its reliability, competitive pricing, and exceptional customer service.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running into a lot of breakdowns . On the trucking side and the moving side.

Success is subjective in my opinion. My version of success could be different from the next person’s. However, I feel like when you can do what you want to do when you want to and still take care of your responsibilities. You have achieved a certain level of success.
