Meet Sherry Stanley-Reynolds and Janet Stanley-Parks of Stanley Restoration in South Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherry Stanley-Reynolds and Janet Stanley-Parks.

Sherry and Janet, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After a successful career in sales, our father, James Stanley, started his own carpet cleaning business in October 1981. He was able to begin this venture with the support of our mother, Vee Ann Stanley They have both been an incredible example of how integrity, honesty and hard work pays off. Our parents were determined to make sure we both had the opportunity to get a college education.

Neither of us planned on working in the family business. However, Sherry started working in May, 1991 after graduating from Texas Christian University. This was just temporary until she found a permanent job. In July 1991, our dad underwent emergency triple bypass surgery. Fortunately Sherry was able to run the business until he fully recovered. She has been here ever since devoting herself to help Stanley Restoration continue to serve families in their time of need.

In December, 1995, I joined the Stanley Restoration team after graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington. By this time, we started to focus more on water restoration services than carpet cleaning. Since then we have added fire restoration, reconstruction, contents restoration, complete pack-outs, roofing, and forensics restoration.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to success is never smooth. Regardless of the obstacles, God has always given us the resources and tools to overcome them.

We faced the challenge of being two young females in the restoration industry. During the 1990’s, most restoration companies were run by men. Our dad always encouraged us to learn everything we could about the industry. Our 6′ dad knew his two 5’2 daughters could do anything they set their minds to. He always jokes that we are the sons he never had.

It has also been challenging to balance a family and run a 24 hour company. We both only took two weeks of maternity leave when we had children. Our aunt, Carmen Cornish, cared for our kids at a small nursery we made at our office. We laugh now because most of our children have plans to work in the business after they graduate from college. They are entrepreneurs just like their grandfather.

Please tell us about Stanley Restoration.
We are a 24-hour restoration company that provides emergency services for water, fire, and smoke damage. We can address everything from the structure to the contents of a home. Stanley Restoration also has a reconstruction and roofing division that can beautifully restore homes. We have recently added a forensics restoration team, Biosheen of Texas that can assist with forensic restoration and biohazard clean up.

In the last five years we have invested in our contents restoration facility that has state of the art technology like no other in the Metroplex. We have the ability to restore garments, electronics, furniture, and contents under one roof. We were the first certified Esporta ES-3300 operator in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We now have two Esporta machines that are able to restore soft contents from comforters and jeans to wedding dresses and designer leather handbags. Regardless of water, smoke, sewage or mold contamination, we are able to restore 80% more of soft goods than traditional laundry and dry cleaning methods. Our Fireline Ultrasonic equipment is able to deliver consistent cleaning quality to items like dishes, small appliances, fine China, lamps, and much more. Our certified technicians are also able to test and clean smoke damaged electronics using the Odell Electronics Cleaning Station. All three of these processes use green products which our customers really appreciate!

We also utilize the iCat inventory system when we pack, store, and move back a customer’s contents. This is a bar code and photo based system that inventories and tracks any contents we remove from a home. Our customers love the fact that they can log into a portal and view their contents in storage.

We are proud that we can restore hope to a customer after they have sustained a fire or water damage in their home. There is nothing better than moving a customer back into their beautifully restored home and moving their items back and putting them in place so they can resume their lives.

Our employees are what set us apart. We have been fortunate to build a team that has the best talent and experience in our industry. They are dedicated and work in some of the worst conditions to serve our customers. They are sometimes called in the middle of the night or on Christmas day to start the restoration process. Running an operation of this size is definitely a team effort. Not only are our employees extremely knowledgeable, but they each have a servant’s heart. Our employees are like family…some of them have been with us 10, 20, and 25 plus years.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We wouldn’t change a thing. Everything we have done has brought us to where we are today.
