Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Cobbs.
Sierra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The Start: Around the age of five years old, growing up in a small-town Tallulah Louisiana I can remember my aunt’s roller setting, pressing, crimping, finger waving, and French rolling hair in my grandmother’s kitchen. Hair is something most of the women in my family are known for, so I’d like to believe I got it honest. As I begin to grow up, there was a period in my life where I oversaw combing my sister and I hair before school each day, that’s where it all began for me. Later, in my Jr High School years, I would always want those Black Hair magazines from the local beauty supplies & grocery stores. I had an entire collection that heavily grew my love for doing hair. I guess you can say I was obsessed lol. While attending James Bowie High School in Arlington TX, I was not into regular electives like track & field; instead, I canceled those courses when I learned that I was able to take cosmetology courses at another local high school in the area which was Sam Houston HS also located in Arlington TX. By the time I graduated from high school in May of 2005, I was already licensed as a Cosmetologist & sew in specialist in the state of Texas. I’ve always loved the idea of being a salon owner one day.
The Struggle: In 2018, I started a virgin hair extensions company by the name of “She’s Royal Bundles,” In mid-2019, my company was hacked, it was completely taken over by Facebook and I also lost my website. I was crushed, I took some time and even had thoughts of throwing in the towel, but I know my purpose in life is to help other’s look and feel great. I took a long break and prayed about it. Then I heard God say if you let this old company go, Sierra, I have something greater for you! I had to distance myself. I shed a few tears, but I had to rebuild, refocus, and continue to trust my process.
The Comeback: That’s when Lavish Beaute Hair Co. was born, my purpose and plan is the beautify, uplift, educate, and encourage women all over from all walks and races of life. I want every woman to know that no matter if she’s natural, balding from alopecia, or just want to wear weave to know that it’s ok and that because your hair does not define or change who you are! Do what makes you feel beautiful. I had to position myself as a leader and be transparent to gain the trust of many women. That’s what’s it’s about, not the money. I live for the reactions of seeing a great woman become even greater.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
So far the road has been pretty smooth I can’t complain. With the support of my family, friends, and even strangers it has become much easier to keep pushing even when the going gets tough. The only struggle I did face was my procrastination. Once I figured it out, I began to flourish within myself and business.
Lavish Beaute Hair – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company is one of the fastest-growing companies in its niche because of my willingness to serve my clients, the time that I put in to do the research, test products, create content, conduct studies, and nourish my audiences with the best hair products plus hair care tips. Lavish Beaute Hair Co’s goal is to beautify, uplift, encourage, and educate, I am most proud of my ability to help others look and feel great by serving them with my passion and purpose as a pro hairstylist for over 15 years. What sets me apart from others is that I do the opposite of what others say don’t do lol and so far, it’s been working out in my favor as I also challenge other beauty and cosmetic bosses to do the same. I also aim to assist in the beauty care and needs of our communities’ hardest working women, including nurses, teachers, lawyers, and doctors, etc.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me, success is to get up and try each day until you become successful. Trying puts you that much further ahead in the industry over someone who isn’t trying at all. Being sold on you, knowing who you are, and your purpose also a true success.
My criteria are that everyone that encounters Lavish Beaute Hair Co leaves with some type of value, inspiration and hope that they didn’t have before this discovery. The main markers that I seek while networking and in everyday life is to figure out how can I help my fellow business owner, and communities thrive from the knowledge of our people.
