Today we’d like to introduce you to Skye Hansen.
Skye, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been someone who loved being active and since I can remember I have been involved with a sports team depending on the season. I attended college at USC where I studied Kinesiology and Nutrition. I started working as the assistant strength and conditioning coach for men and women’s basketball, it was then I fell in love with helping others to work toward their goal from a physical and mental standpoint. Throughout my time in college, I also worked as a university group instructor and as a personal trainer. After graduating, I started my own fitness company in Los Angeles, where I quickly gained notoriety in the entertainment industry as a top celebrity trainer. I ran my own private gym out of Beverly Hills and steadily built a team of trainers to work under me. With my family living in Dallas, I saw the perfect opportunity to expand my business. I moved to Dallas in the early part of this year and have begun to lay down my roots of Skye Hansen Fitness and Nutrition. I am beyond excited for the success I’ve seen here in a short amount of time and am looking forward to building a team of trainers that will help to represent my brand and continue to enhance the lives of people in the Dallas fitness community!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I believe that nothing worth having comes easy- a similar belief I hold to obtaining optimal fitness and wellness. To have a strong mind and body you have to work at it, day in and day out. My journey is the result of a lot of research, learning from others that were successful in the industry and most importantly developing a sense of trust with my community so people felt comfortable coming to me and confident I could get them the results they wanted. Training is not easy on the body physically, it’s long hours in the gym, which means you need to have energy and strength. The physical aspects aside, it’s really about cultivating positive relationships and being a source of inspiration and encouragement for all clients. Their journey in fitness becomes one that I am a part of every step of the way, physically and emotionally.
Please tell us about Skye Hansen Fitness and Nutrition – what should we know?
My training company focuses on helping clients to achieve their fitness and nutrition goals by creating customized programs that are suited to their individual needs. I am certified through NASM as a certified personal trainer with several other certifications in pre/postnatal training, TRX instructor, and a cancer exercise specialist. My true passion and specialty is in functional strength training- which includes aspects of stability, mobility and strength training. All of which are vital to achieving optimal fitness and avoiding injury. My client’s needs have always come first, which is what sets me apart. I am aware that no one person is the same and as such their training should be tailored to meet their needs, some people need more of one thing and less of another. Alongside programming, we place emphasis on prescribing a diet that not only compliments their training program but becomes an integral part of their lifestyle. Our company strives to make fitness and nutrition obtainable and something our clients look forward to every day. I have been working with clients to help set themselves up for success both in the gym and at home, where I create custom home gyms for clients based on their program. Our custom home gyms make fitness not a destination but a way of life. As a company, we are most proud when we see a client achieve a goal they always thought was unachievable. The most satisfying part of training is seeing others succeed, it means I’ve done my job!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have been very lucky to have worked alongside some of the best trainers and coaches in the industry, all of whom I have learned a great deal. During my college career at USC, I worked under Shawn Brown as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. Before he started at USC, he worked for the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors. He served as a huge inspiration to my career and was one of the most knowledgable coaches I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Truly, my biggest inspiration has always been my clients, they have taught me the value of hard work and determination and are have always been my biggest supporters. I don’t succeed unless they succeed and as much as I push my clients to better themselves, they have also taught me how to be the best trainer possible.
