Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonja Hill.
Sonja, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I NEVER wanted to be a full-time cook even though I had been in the food and beverage industry all my life. I always wanted to be a police officer. I started on the path of being an officer in Shreveport, La. Later as the years went on, that path ended. I moved to Dallas and worked as a server for a while since I’ve always been in the food and beverage industry, that’s all I knew and had.
Food later became a passion to me. Its a GIFT! My mother and father were both really amazing cooks so it naturally came for me! I had had to have a little push in getting back into the swing of things. Yava came along and did just that! She made me realize that this love I had wasn’t going away so I needed to get back to it! And I did. I’m is so happy for the friends and family that continue to push me along the way to bring “Chase the Chef ” to life! Next up is the food truck, along with feeding the homeless! Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It wasn’t a smoothie road but I had help. Many days I doubted myself because of the lack of finances/time because I still have a 9-5 and you HAVE TO make time for your business. The biggest of them all was the fear of success!! I often felt as though I would lose a lot of friends, the more I became successful.

I specialize in Soul food/seafood If you can think it, I can cook it and if I cant ill go ask moms!! I’m mostly known for my seafood dishes I’ve done so many parties, date nights, baby showers, anniversaries you name it! I also have my own “Chase the “Chef” seasoning on the way!!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Believed TOTALLY in myself no matter my mistakes… They made me greater.
