Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Connor.
Stacey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
About three years ago, I decided that I wanted to launch my blog. I spent a few days building my site and had my sister shoot a couple of looks. I launched and didn’t tell anyone. Half of me hoped that it would become an overnight success and the other half hoped nobody would find it! I shut it down 24 hours later as I was afraid, I wouldn’t succeed. Fast forward two years, I became a stay at home mom to my one and two-year old and started feeling like I needed something for myself. I, finally worked up the courage to relaunch in July of 2017 and haven’t looked back!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As a relatively new blogger, it is definitely a struggle trying to grow in a somewhat saturated industry and the ever-changing algorithms don’t help. I try to not put pressure on myself but I am definitely my worst critic. Aside from that, it has definitely been a struggle trying to find balance between mom life and the blogging world. If I’m trying to work, I am distracted by the kids and if I am playing with the kids, I am worried about what I should be working on. I don’t know that I will ever truly find balance but I am just taking it one day at a time!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Life on Ladera serves as a platform for me to share all of the things I love from beauty and fashion, to home decor and life as a mom of two toddlers. I am proud of myself for having the courage to relaunch and I am even more proud of the number of collaborations I have gotten in under a year of blogging. With the number of bloggers that are out there today, it is definitely hard to set yourself apart from others. However, I just stay true to who I am and what I love… and I’m not afraid to tell you if my kids are acting crazy! 😉
What were you like growing up?
I was painfully shy growing up. I cried on the first day of school every year. In kindergarten, I decided I wanted to be a Girl Scout, purely for the benefit of having all of those cookies at my house. My parents signed me up but I cried at the first meeting so we had to leave. Fast forward a few years later, my parents signed me up for gymnastics but I was too afraid to go in to the first day of class. You see a theme here. Thankfully, I have outgrown my shyness but unfortunately, I have not outgrown my love for Girl Scout cookies.
