Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Quinn.
Stacey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been studying and practicing the art of makeup since I was a teenager. Even at a young age, I’ve always had a passion for makeup and “glamming” myself up. I have worked for over fifteen years as an ABO-certified optician, so I am very familiar with overall health of eyes when it comes to semi-permanent lash extensions. My customers would always ask me, “What are you doing working here, you have such a great eye for fashion,” and “Your skin is so beautiful, who does your makeup?” I eventually came to the realization that I could help other people by doing what I love.
I am a wife and mother of a beautiful 5-year-old daughter. I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. I also attended The Paul Mitchell School of Dallas where I became a licensed esthetician in the state of Texas, and a certified lash extension artist.
In 2014, I attended the Chroma Trending Tour in Las Vegas, which is an advanced professional course on editorial makeup, the bridal business, custom color blending of various foundations, etc. I also received my airbrush makeup certification with legendary makeup artist Jan Ryan.
I truly enjoy the makeup and fashion world, and in my spare time I love to sew and create my own clothes and wardrobe. I am constantly keeping up with all the latest fashion and makeup trends. My future goal is to create a customized skin care line for women of color.
My mission is to enhance your natural beauty, and to make you feel pampered and glamorous. I specialize in eyelash extensions, makeup, and waxing, serving the Dallas/Ft Worth area.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. Upon receiving my cosmetology license I was so eager to gain experience and work for more established salons, I did not realize that my goals and ideas did not always align with what the salon owners had in mind. Not being able to take my business where I thought it needed to go was definitely a challenge while working for others. Working so hard and putting in so many hours I was only compensated a small percentage of the services I performed on clients. Although I am grateful for the knowledge and experience I’ve gained by doing so, I am thrilled to finally be independent and on my own.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Stacey Quinn Lash & Makeup – what should we know?
I am a licensed esthetician and my business is focused on lashes, makeup and brow waxing. Although I could do facials and other spa services, I am most happy focusing on those three services. I like to pride myself on my professional appearance and eye for fashion. I think what sets me apart from others is that I have a strong background in the optical industry, I am an ABO and NCLE certified optician. I have a lot of experience dealing with eyewear and eye care. It was only natural for me to focus my business on eyelashes in addition to makeup and brow waxing.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My younger sister is my biggest inspiration. She has a successful eyelash business called LashKiss and does very well. She’s the one who motivated me to take that leap and go into business for myself. If it wasn’t for her I don’t think I would be where I am today.
