Meet Staci and Amanda Webb of Vintage Cork 917 in Ben Wheeler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Staci and Amanda Webb.

Staci and Amanda, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, it’s a story as old as time, in that it all started when two women became sisters-in-law, our husbands are brothers. We get along just like best friends and have very similar personalities! We are often caught wearing similar outfits without even planning it or saying something at the same time (jinx). We have a great time together and love brainstorming new ideas, especially over a bottle or two of wine! One of those dreamy ideas started to become a reality in May of 2017 when we stumbled on a beautiful blue building located in the historic downtown area of Ben Wheeler, TX while out riding on motorcycles with our husbands. That is how Vintage Cork 917 was born!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. With any new business, you are going to face struggles and obstacles. We both went into this business having and maintaining full-time jobs and families. To this day we still work 8-5 jobs during the week while having the winery open on the weekends.

Another major struggle of starting our business was obtaining the license required to open the doors. We did not start out with the idea of being a winery but more a wine and craft beer bar. Due to the area (Ben Wheeler) that we fell in love with, that idea was not going to happen, so we adjusted! That adjustment is what has opened the door to us starting the process of making our own signature wines. It also led to us obtaining valuable relationships with the wineries we work with. We have been able to build awesome relationships with the community and gain support from our regular customers that have become friends. All the struggles and obstacles were well worth it. With every obstacle, it can lead to great opportunities!!

Please tell us about your business.
Vintage Cork 917 is a unique winery and boutique in the downtown area of Ben Wheeler, TX!

We consider Vintage Cork 917 to be a unique winery for the fact that while we are in the starting phase of producing our own wine (available within the near future), we are able to offer wines from other local Texas wineries. We want to provide our customers with some of the finest wines that you can find from Texas wineries. We also make wine slushies in house that have made us FAMOUS… well, kind of… but we will take it! We change the flavors on a regular basis. They range from one of the favorites black cherry to exotic jalapeno wine-o-rita!

In our boutique, we offer stylish, unique clothing and gifts. What better way to spend the day than sipping wine while you shop… two of our favorite things!

We are very excited to be on this adventure and to be able to share it with you! We love making memories while making new friends with each glass of wine. So, come out for a visit, relax, and enjoy some good wine and company!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Sampling grandma’s homemade wine of course – you know you did it too!
