Meet Stacy Fisher of Polka Dot Party and Play in Far North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Fisher.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Stacy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After a career in advertising and teaching, I was lucky enough to become a stay-at-home-mom. My support network started small but quickly grew when I became part of an amazing group of other moms. Having the knowledge, support, and comradery of 40+ moms enriched our lives and provided numerous opportunities to experience new places in the metroplex.

Fast forward five fun years of hopping around DFW enjoying different play areas, parks, libraries, museums, malls, festivals, and I was a mom of a young lady ready for Pre-K. With a full and heavy heart, we found a preschool she loved and I found myself in a new chapter in life. I knew I wanted to keep my daughter close, be involved in her school, give back to the community, and teach in some way.

All it took was seeing one ad in a magazine while on vacation to spark the idea of Polka Dot Party + Play. The ad was for a unique wooden indoor play structure that was made in Maine. It was different than anything I had seen before. I compared that to my experiences going to parks or play areas with a toddler which could be so stressful. Having to climb two or three stories on your knees to get your crying toddler was not fun. Not to mention the broken heart of the other moms stuck on the ground level with their newborns, trying to console their toddlers and guide them down. The play structure I saw in the magazine could make the lives of other moms much less stressful and my idea for Polka Dot was born.

Polka Dot became my way to give back to the moms of the area. I incorporated all the things I wished I had when my daughter was younger. A clean, coffee-filled, relaxing environment with seating for moms and a fun, engaging, learning environment for their children…all at a reasonable price. After opening, we began hosting birthday parties to help take the stress out of such a special day. Parents love being able to relax and enjoy their party knowing everyone is having such a great time!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As with adventure, every day you learn something new. We are still working hard to spread the word about our business and sharing our message with as many people as possible. The most common comment we receive from new guests is, “Wow, this is so cute and we had a blast. I had no idea you were here!”

Moms are so busy that traditional forms of advertising aren’t as beneficial as they used to be. Many moms rely on the reviews and recommendations of others which is why we are especially grateful for all the recommendations and all the excellent reviews we have received.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Polka Dot Party and Play – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Polka Dot Party + Play is an educational indoor play space that specializes in imaginary play for toddlers and preschool aged children. Our minimalist style, indoor wooden play structure, and the care of our guests sets us apart from our competitors. Every decision we make is designed to benefit the parents and children visiting Polka Dot. Parenting can be stressful and if I can make their day easier by providing a clean, educational space for their children to have fun and take the stress out of birthday parties, then I have been successful!

We offer Open Play during the week with discounts for siblings and a fun party venue on the weekends. All parties are private and include edited photography of your party, a dedicated party hostess to help set up and ensure everything runs smoothly, coffee for you and your guests, use of dessert serving ware, and cleanup afterward. I’m most proud of the countless number of hours’ children spend engaged in play and the ecstatic parents that are able to enjoy their parties with their guests.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We think educational indoor play spaces are a concept that will continue to grow in areas with large concentrations of small children and stay at home parents…like North Texas. We plan to keep growing our business and look forward to meeting many more fantastic guests and their adorable children.

Pricing:

  • Open Play is Monday – Friday from 9am – 2pm. Admission is $10 per child and $7 for siblings.
  • Birthday Party Packages start at $245 All parties are private, include edited photography, and a party hostess.
