Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Martinez-Alcala.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Stacy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was an Orthodontic assistant for 11 years; started right after high school. I’m a mother of four beautiful kids, two teenage girls a boy and a 3-year-old girl. I’m married to my high school sweetheart who has been with me through it all. As a kid, I always thought I wanted to be a police officer or a detective; something in law enforcement for sure. Which is crazy because I was always into makeup and hair. Anything that had to do with beauty, you could count me in. I use to do hair and makeup for girl’s proms, quinceañeras, even for my girlfriends on our nights out.
I’ve always been a woman with big dreams and have always been very strong-minded. If I start something, I HAVE to finish it or I’m not satisfied. I started doing lash extensions June of 2018 took courses after course and fell in love with it! I started with a course on Classic lashes then a volume one and have now taken a total of 3 mega volume courses. It became a passion. I would get home and practice on my mannequin after lashing all day. I started with three clients a day and soon, my business grew! I would get phone calls from active client’s, sisters, aunts, co-workers, and soon my business was blooming! My husband would tell me to take a break but I wanted to get better and know that I’d be making other women happy! Being a dental assistant for so long helped me realize how much I loved uplifting other people and making them feel confident about themselves by enhancing their smile. Then, took that to a whole other level but this time, in the beauty industry. It only gets better from here.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy, I remember seeing hundreds of lashes on a client and wondering if I was ever gonna be done, questioning myself at times and wondering if other lash artists took as long as I did on a full set. I do believe that when you commit to something and give it your all, anything is possible! With the love and support of my family and husband, I have made it this far.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Best of Stacy Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
I rent a small booth and have turned it into my woman cave! I literally have poured my heart into that little room. I always try to put myself in other people’s shoes and try to make it something I’d like if I were them. What sets me apart from others is that I give you the set of lash extensions that are harmless to your lashes. I make the lash fans based on the strength and thickness of your natural lashes. I love having the ability to make my clients feel beautiful, there’s power in that.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
This industry is growing by the minute. I believe that it’ll only get bigger. This is a new era and it’s all about beauty. All about trying to look, stay and feel younger and beautiful. I hope to one day have my business expand, add more services and hopefully in the future, be an instructor and teach others what I love to do.
