Meet Stephanie Garza of Planted Bakery in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Garza.

Stephanie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always had a passion for food, especially sweets. When my husband and I decided to commit to plant-based eating, I had to relearn how to cook and bake. I fell in love with it all over again, especially finding creative ways to substitute eggs and dairy. When we discovered the lack of vegan bakeries in Fort Worth and a spot in our neighborhood available for lease, the plans took shape from there. My husband and our house bread baker, Mark, has been building restaurants for 15 years, so he had all the construction and business experience we needed to get the ball rolling. Since announcing our business late last year, we have had overwhelming response and support all over the city, and we have provided goodies for events and gatherings all over the metroplex. Our Grand Opening is scheduled for early April if our customers can wait that long!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We have had some bumps in trying to narrow down our menu and figure out the most cost-effective way to provide as much of a variety as we can, but we have been able to utilize social media for a lot of those questions.

Please tell us about your business.
Planted Bakery is a vegan bakery specializing in items prepared with no animal products. We are the only completely vegan bakery that offers a full bakery menu. As a health-conscious business, we pride ourselves in offering plant-based treats to our community and nourishing our neighbors without harming animals.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If we had to start over, we would have opened this business years ago!
