Hi Stephanie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey in accounting as an administrator for a CPA firm, where I quickly learned the ins and outs of the industry and discovered how much I loved the challenge that tax accounting brought. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I had a deep passion for tax law — I genuinely enjoy reading the tax code and using that knowledge to better serve clients.
Eventually, I wanted to do things my own way — to build a firm based on honesty, integrity, and true client relationships. So, I took the leap and started S. Godoy & Associates LLC. When I first began, I had no clients, just determination and a vision. I used that time to study the tax code every single day, sitting for hours at my kitchen table, learning everything I could to become the kind of professional my future clients would trust and depend on.
I’ve always had a heart for helping others. That passion made it easy for me to meet clients where they are — whether they’re behind on filings, overwhelmed with their books, or just need a little extra guidance. My mission has always been to help small local businesses grow and thrive within our community, because their success truly fuels mine.
My husband, Spencer, later joined the firm full-time, and together we’ve expanded our services to include tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, entity formation, business consulting, and sales tax compliance. Our mission is to help business owners gain clarity, stay compliant, and grow with confidence.
Beyond the work we do in the office, we’re deeply involved in our local community. We’re proud members of several area Chambers of Commerce and actively support local businesses through sponsorships, networking events, and partnerships. We believe success is built together — when small businesses thrive, our communities grow stronger.
As a woman in a male-dominated industry, I’ve faced my share of challenges, but I’ve learned to meet them with faith, resilience, and grace. I built this firm with a determination to lead by example — to show that you can achieve success without losing your heart along the way.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been anything but smooth — but I wouldn’t trade the struggle for anything. I started S. Godoy & Associates LLC at just 32 years old, which in the accounting world is considered young. I didn’t have a long list of titles behind my name — no fancy credentials to lean on — just knowledge, drive, and the determination to build something real.
Because of that, I had to fight harder to earn respect. There were people who doubted me because of my age, because I wasn’t a CPA, or simply because I was a woman leading in a male-dominated industry. But I refused to let anyone else define what success should look like for me. I built my credibility through hard work, consistency, and results — one client at a time.
Starting from scratch was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. There were early mornings, long nights, and seasons where exhaustion became a daily companion. I poured everything I had into this business — every ounce of energy, every tear, every bit of faith I could muster. There were financial struggles, personal sacrifices, and moments when I questioned if I was strong enough to keep pushing.
I carried the weight of wearing every hat — accountant, marketer, admin, leader, and motivator — while still showing up for my clients with a smile. There were times I faced burnout, loneliness, and the quiet pressure that comes from being the one responsible for keeping everything afloat. But even in those moments, I knew this was my purpose.
Every challenge — from being underestimated, to standing my ground without the “traditional” titles, to pushing through exhaustion — built the foundation of who I am today. Those battles gave me grit, resilience, and faith deeper than I ever imagined.
