Meet Stephanie Harrison of Braids by Boosie in Mesquite

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Harrison.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Stephanie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up, I always knew that helping others was the path I wanted to take. As a kid, I watched my mother provide childcare to less fortunate families. While working after school to help, I learned so much from my mother, she was a mother, a teacher, a listening ear for all those parents that needed her! My mother was my inspiration! To watch how many kids she raised and helped! To see all the parents come to her for advice and guidance was the type of fulfillment I wanted to also to be able to provide for others. After graduating from high school, I worked as an Oncology nurse for seven years. I worked ten plus years working as an occasional Health and Safety Manager. The whole time I’ve always done hair to make sure little girls were able to look in the mirror and feel good about who they are. After the birth of my grandson, my part time job of doing hair became my full time job. By doing this, I’ve met and helped so many people.. I also have a podcast that I do every Wednesday to help promote self love. I help bring awareness to bullying along with mental health. By opening up my Boutique/ braid shop I get the opportunity to meet so many people that need someone to care about what they have to say or someone who cares how they feel!! I plan on changing and helping the community one person at a time!! Sometimes all they need is someone who cares!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No at all, many times you are the only one who believes in your dream! Being able to overcome my self esteem issues was a big struggle. When you have a dream and your constantly  deal with people telling you that you can’t  make a difference. That can be so discouraging along with Having no real support system.

Please tell us about your business.

I’m constantly giving back to the community!!! The thing that sets me apart from others would be my drive to ensure the saying No Child Left Behind really has a meaning!!! Our children have a voice!!! And I plan on helping then 1 by 1!!!! All it takes is 1 person to show they care
