Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Lindsey.
Hi Stephanie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Therapy Lounge and Performance Center (TLPC) just celebrated its 5th anniversary; and since its inception, a lot of cool changes have happened! TLPC was built from a passion for helping people perform at their highest level-not just in sports, but in every area of life. As a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), I recognize there is a need for a different approach to mental health care…one that combines evidence-based therapy with performance psychology to help clients not only heal from past experiences but also build resilience, confidence, and the skills to thrive. I also recently applied to be a Scream Club representative for Dallas – another great, free way to let the feels out. Updates to come here soon.
I founded TLPC with the vision of creating a space where athletes, high performers, professionals, entrepreneurs, and adults could receive compassionate, trauma-informed care that is both practical and results-oriented. Today, I provide telehealth therapy throughout Texas and Virginia, specializing in trauma, anxiety, EMDR, and sports performance.
As my practice has grown, my passion for developing other clinicians has grown alongside it. As a LPC-S, I’m currently accepting applications from LPC-Associates seeking high-quality supervision focused on clinical excellence, private practice development, trauma-informed care, and working with athletes and high performers. For Associates who are the right fit, supervision may also open the door to future employment opportunities within TLPC.
That passion for mentorship also led me to launch my second company, Own The Moment Club. Through coaching, education, and business consulting, I help therapists and other helping professionals build successful, values-driven businesses while expanding their skills in areas like private practice growth, performance psychology, and serving athletes and high achievers.
Whether I’m working with clients, supervising clinicians, or coaching fellow professionals, my mission remains the same: to help people unlock their potential, perform with confidence, and create meaningful, lasting success in both their personal and professional lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most entrepreneurs, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building a private practice requires wearing a lot of hats – you become the therapist, marketer, accountant, recruiter, business strategist, and CEO all at once. There have been moments of uncertainty, long hours, and plenty of trial and error while learning what works and what doesn’t.
One of the biggest challenges has been balancing exceptional client care with growing a sustainable business. My priority has always been providing high-quality, ethical care, but I’ve also had to learn how to market myself, build systems, navigate insurance changes, and make difficult business decisions that allow the practice to continue serving clients long-term.
Starting something new always comes with self-doubt and setbacks, but I’ve learned to view challenges as opportunities to grow rather than reasons to quit. Every obstacle has made me a better clinician, business owner, and leader.
Perhaps the biggest lesson has been realizing that success isn’t built overnight- it’s built through consistency, adaptability, and a willingness to keep showing up even when progress feels slow. Looking back, those difficult seasons have shaped both my businesses and reinforced my passion for helping others build lives and careers they genuinely enjoy.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Therapy Lounge and Performance Center?
The Therapy Lounge and Performance Center is a Texas-based telehealth private practice dedicated to helping adults, athletes, and high performers improve their mental health and optimize their performance. While we treat concerns such as anxiety, trauma, depression, stress, and life transitions, our philosophy goes beyond symptom reduction – we help clients develop the mental skills needed to thrive in every aspect of life.
We specialize in trauma-informed therapy, EMDR, sport and performance psychology, and working with individuals who hold themselves to high standards, whether they’re competitive athletes, business owners, healthcare professionals, executives, or anyone striving to perform at their best. Our approach is practical, evidence-based, and individualized, recognizing that every client has unique goals and experiences.
One of the things that sets our practice apart is the integration of traditional psychotherapy with performance psychology. We don’t just ask, “How do we help you feel better?” We also ask, “How do we help you perform better, build resilience, and create a life that aligns with your values?” This allows clients to leave therapy with both healing and tangible skills they can continue using long after treatment ends.
Beyond direct client care, we’re committed to investing in the future of the profession. As a LPC-S, I’m passionate about mentoring the next generation of therapists who want to help high performers achieve their goals in and outside of work. My goals are to have them work alongside me at TLPC, build their own caseloads and careers, and achieve their own life goals. I’m currently accepting applications from LPC-Associates who want to grow into confident, skilled clinicians, with opportunities to join the practice for those who are the right fit.
I’m also proud to have expanded our mission through Own The Moment Club, a coaching and education company that helps therapists and other helping professionals build sustainable businesses, strengthen their leadership skills, and learn how to effectively work with athletes and high performers.
More than anything, I’m proud of the culture and mission behind both brands. Everything we do is rooted in excellence, authenticity, continuous growth, and empowering people to reach their full potential. Whether someone comes to us as a therapy client, a supervisee, or a coaching client, our goal is the same: to equip them with the tools, confidence, and support they need to create meaningful, lasting success.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Some of my favorite childhood memories are the simple ones spent with all of the neighborhood kids. We were always outside riding bikes, playing sports, and using our imaginations to create elaborate games and adventures. One of my favorites was a “spy” series we invented—we’d create characters, make costumes, develop missions, and spend entire afternoons acting out our stories. Looking back, those experiences taught me the value of creativity, teamwork, and building meaningful connections. They also remind me how important play, community, and imagination are, no matter your age.
