Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen Tran.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Stephen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I drive around the city a ton for my job as a real estate agent and so I eat out regularly. I enjoy eating at new places and I noticed so many restaurants closing up once the pandemic was in full effect. I decided to make one Tiktok video about a restaurant I was eating at because I thought it was unique, and it went viral.
Then it occurred to me the power of what I was actually doing: Bringing awareness to businesses that desperately need it during this pandemic-era, and spreading good vibes. In a time where people are now social distancing and staying home, I’m giving people an outlet to stay connected and adventure to new places with me. I’ve now amassed a following of near 20,000 people and it’s still growing.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The content I make requires three things: Time, knowledge, and creativity. The main struggle is to sit down after a long day and create. It’s hard for me to try and balance things, and so I happily don’t. All I do is real estate, make Tiktoks, and create content for my other social media platforms. It is extremely fun and inspiring to see the places I feature to get more awareness. It’s also humbling to have people reach out to me through email, comments, and DMs to either thank me or to suggest I try a certain place. That’s my reward.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m passionate about the city of Dallas and everything in it. All I want to do is bring awareness to the great businesses that keep us going and the amazing business owners that fight to provide a service and therefore provide for their families.
I specialize in speaking my truth and spreading positive vibes. I believe the people that watch my stuff subconsciously know this and I am happy to continue doing so. I’m most proud of not getting paid to do what I do. The last thing I want is to be bribed by money to feature a place I don’t genuinely enjoy.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Many people comment under my videos and say things like, “My grandma used to take me here ALL the time.” or “I’ve lived here all my life and never knew about this place. Thank you!”
I’m proud of not only bringing nostalgia and good memories but of helping people discover new places and new things to do around Dallas.
