Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Stephens.
Jason, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born in Dallas, grew up in Fort Worth, am the oldest of four kids, my mom was a school teacher for over 30 years, and I mowed yards in the Texas summer heat all through middle school and high school. I was fortunate enough to receive an Army scholarship to attend Texas Christian University, and I then went on to obtain my law degree from Baylor Law School with honors.
For over two decades, my law practice has been focused exclusively on representing individuals and their families in serious personal injury and wrongful death cases. I help counsel, guide, and protect the rights of good folks who have suffered a life-changing injury or who have lost a loved one in such an event. I limit my practice to select cases so that I can fully immerse myself in my clients’ situations and provide personal customized representation. I’d say that I got to where I am today through hard work, a never give up attitude, and by always focusing on doing the right thing for my clients.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I am a firm believer that no one achieves success without obstacles, challenges, and struggles along the way. That’s how we learn, improve, and build character. As a lawyer, one of my biggest challenges has always been coming to grip with the fact that I cannot help everyone that calls me. I’m not the right lawyer to handle every case. My skill set and personality are better geared towards focusing on good folks who have truly suffered a catastrophic injury like a traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, or some other serious injury. I like representing people against big corporations and insurance companies and I thrive on being a difference-maker in my clients’ lives.
We’d love to hear more about your practice.
I’ve been fortunate to represent a lot of really good people in some very significant cases. And through those successes, I have received lots of accolades like being named to the Best Lawyers in America, Texas Super Lawyer, Top 100 Super Lawyer in Dallas/Fort Worth, Top Fort Worth Lawyers for Personal Injury, Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and American Board of Trial Advocates. But, I am most proud of two cases in particular where, through the settlement process, I was able to not only secure my clients a highly confidential monetary settlement but I was always able to negotiate for changes and new policies that were implemented on a national level to better protect our children from abuse in our church environments.
