Meet Steven Madrigal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Madrigal.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2012, I was living in California. I married an amazing woman who shares the same passion for music as I do. So I decided instead of hearing what other DJs wanted me to hear, I decided I could compile songs we both loved, in hour-long playlists by simply using iTunes.

It wasn’t until 2015 when I decided to invest in a $250 DJ controller.

From there I would practice in our living room every night. I had the opportunity to do a house party to realize I love to get people dancing.

With having work a 9-5 job & commute, I was not able to pursue anything past a house party.

In June of 2018, my wife and I realized California sucks so we packed up our cars and moved to Dallas. Here, we both found jobs close to home and was able to get in contact with local DJs. I have performed and RBC in Deep Ellum, Sports Garden in Coppell, Omni Hotel in Dallas, Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, and so many more places.

Dallas has been an amazing place to meet amazing people.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A rough road for me has been to turn down job offers to play music I am not passionate about. If I decided to venture into music styles I do not have a heart for, then I am sacrificing a part of myself for money, and I knew I did not want to go down that path. I have to stay true to why I started DJing, to play the perfect song at the perfect moment for people to hear.

Tell us more about your work.
I have a love for electronic dance music and always bring my passion.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Having my life in order. If I have everything outside of my DJing life in order, it gives me the maximum amount of time to do it. If I ignore my responsibilities as a husband or work, it causes more harm to the future I want.

Skip the instant gratifications if they are harmful in the long run.
