Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Rogers.
Hi Steven, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was 15 when I started working for my dad’s roofing company, Roger’s Roofing, back in 1994. He taught me the ropes early, how to work hard, stay honest, and take pride in every job. That foundation stuck with me.
In 2009, I decided it was time to branch out and start my own roofing business. But I didn’t just want to do the same thing under a different name, I wanted to build something completely new, with a different kind of vision. It didn’t all come together overnight. I had to learn, fail, and try again until I found what worked.
Around that time, I had just gotten married. With the support of my wife, my dad, and my close friends and family, we built something from the ground up, filtered the team, tightened the vision, and committed to doing things the right way. That’s how Green Nation was born in 2016.
Even though the name was new, the experience behind it wasn’t. Between us, we had over 30 years in roofing and general contracting, and we were ready to take it to the next level.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting my own roofing and general contracting business wasn’t easy. I had the experience, but building something from the ground up takes more than that. Finding the right crew, guys who share my work ethic, values, and take pride in their work, that was one of the toughest parts. But when you find them, they become like family.
There’s a lot that’s out of your control, weather delays, material issues, unexpected problems on the job. As the owner, it all lands on you. You wear every hat and put in long hours to keep things moving.
But despite the stress, the setbacks, and the sacrifices, it’s worth it. I built this business with my family, for my family. And every job we finish is a reminder of why we started in the first place.

We’re a family-owned and operated roofing and general contracting business with deep roots in the trade. Starting with my father, who’s been in the industry for over 50 years, and he passed that knowledge down to me. I’ve now got over 30 years under my belt and I’m proud to be passing it on to my two sons. My oldest already comes with me on job sites, learning the ins and outs just like I did growing up. It’s more than a business, it’s a legacy.
We specialize in roofing, patio covers, carports, home additions, kitchen and bathroom remodels and new builds, handling everything from residential builds to outdoor structures and home improvements. What we’re known for is our quality craftsmanship, and treating every job like it’s our own home. We take pride in walking our clients through each step of the process, clear communication, no surprises, just solid work done right.
What sets us apart is that we care. We’re not some out-of-town company chasing contracts, we’re local, and that means something to us. Our clients are our neighbors, and that family feel shows in everything we do. Being locally owned and operated gives us the privilege of connecting with the people we serve and that shows up in the relationships we build and the work we deliver.
This business takes long days, early mornings, and full commitment. What I’m most proud of is not just the brand itself, but the values behind it. We stand on tradition, hard work, and a name we’re proud to pass down to the next generation.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
For me, it’s all about work ethic. In this business, your word and your follow-through mean everything. I’ve always believed in showing up, doing the job right, and being direct with people, no shortcuts, no excuses. That mindset has helped me build trust with my clients and respect with my team.
I also believe in leading by example. Whether it’s working long hours, solving problems on the fly, or teaching my sons the ropes, I show up with the same level of commitment every day. That consistency is what’s driven my success and helped me build something I’m proud of.
