Meet Summer Fowler of Facial Theory Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Summer Fowler.

Hi Summer , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been in the beauty world for a long time, but my true passion revealed itself when I found skin care.

Brandon and I are cousins, and we both attended cosmetology school at Toni and Guy in Plano, Texas. We began our careers in the hair world, but it didn’t take long for both of us to realize that something else had our full attention. Facials. Skin health. The transformation that happens when you truly work with the skin.

That passion deepened when we worked together at our family spa, Mod Facial. It was there that our love affair with facials truly began and where we honed our approach to results driven skin care but with always including the relaxation piece. After our family decided to sell the spa, Brandon moved to Boston to help open our family’s second venture, Skinkind, a facials only spa on Newbury Street.

When Brandon returned to the Dallas Fort Worth area, it felt natural for us to come together and build something of our own. With our combined experience and shared vision, Facial Theory was born.

It’s been seven years since we entered the world of esthetics, and we still love it today just as much as we did on day one.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. We went from performing facials in the treatment room with a full, loyal clientele to building an entire concept from the ground up.

Nothing truly prepares you for how many hats a business owner wears until you’re in it. Suddenly you’re not just an esthetician, you’re handling day to day operations, problem solving booking software issues, ordering supplies, managing schedules, keeping up with endless mountains of laundry, and figuring out marketing and social media on the fly. Brandon even built our website himself.

That experience gave us a whole new level of respect for my aunt and uncle, who built Mod Facial and several other spas and skincare lines before us. Seeing firsthand what it takes behind the scenes was humbling, exhausting, and incredibly eye opening.

Those challenges stretched us, but they also made us stronger and more appreciative of every part of the business we’ve built.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Facial Theory is built on the belief that great skin care is about balance. We believe in pushing the skin when it’s ready, but also deeply respecting where it is in the moment. Not every face needs the same thing, and listening to the skin is just as important as treating it.

People come to us from all over, and that still humbles us. Brandon even has clients who live out of state and make it a point to book with him whenever they’re back in town. That level of trust is something we never take lightly.

Our approach is results driven, but it’s always more than that. A facial here can feel like a nervous system reset. For some, it’s a quiet therapy session. For others, it’s talking through life changes, sending kids off to college, or finally giving themselves permission to rest. And for those who need it most, it’s a full snooze fest, the kind of deep rest that settles into both the body and the soul.

We’re not offering ordinary facials. What we provide is a truly intentional experience that blends visible results with genuine relaxation. That combination is what sets Facial Theory apart, and it’s what we’re most proud of as a brand.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people are surprised to learn that Brandon and I are both from Columbus, Georgia, and that outside of the spa, we’re pretty low key. We’re cat people, I love tattoos, and we both carry a deep appreciation for the experiences that shaped us early in life.

Our start wasn’t always easy, but that journey gave us resilience, perspective, and a genuine appreciation for the work we get to do today. It’s a big part of why Facial Theory feels so personal, both for us and for the people who walk through our doors.
