Meet Sybil Summers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sybil Summers.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sybil. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2001, I called into an overnight show on KYNG- 105.3 FM (The Talk That Rocks Texas). Turns out, they needed an intern and I was going to school for media so I got the gig. After a few shuffles of the deck, I’m still with the company 19 years later. I’m fortunate to host afternoon drive at our iconic sister station, 98.7 KLUV. Through the decades, I’ve also had the opportunity to be an emcee for the Dallas Cowboys, the big screen hostess at Texas Motor Speedway, the host of a TV show called “Plugged Into DFW”, the national face of Indycar Racing, and work with hundreds of incredible people along the way!

Has it been a smooth road?
There are bumps on every road. I’ve been fired, re-hired, demoted, promoted, divorced, married. It’s all part of this cycle we call life.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
As many DFW residents know, 98.7 KLUV is a heritage station. I’m honored to be part of the new generation where “Nobody Plays More 80s!” Often times, people think we’re “that oldies channel my parents listened to”, but we’ve upgraded from that antiquated record player in your grandma’s basement. Our line-up is more youthful, our audience is more hip, and our music is more current. Look around, and you’ll see that 80s are all the rage right now, so it’s pretty special to be a part of this growth. PS: Spread the word!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Radio is the #1 audio-listening medium in America. People also enjoy podcasts and on-demand music, so we’ve accommodated that audience as well. There are many more ways to listen (smart speakers, on phones/computers, etc.) so we are constantly expanding our RADIO.COM brand. Which, by the way, you can download for free and take us with you on-the-go. 😉
