Meet Sylvia Flanagan of Anointed Touch Salon Allen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylvia Flanagan.

Sylvia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started 22 years ago in Beaumont, Texas. I worked in someone else’s salon for one year. I always had a mindset of owning my own salon. But I believe in mentorship and learning your business. And after one year as an independent contractor. I was so happy to open Anointed Touch Beaumont in a little storefront. My clients were so excited about new location!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning a salon hasn’t always been easy. It has had its ups and downs! But overall, it’s been rewarding! I worked in my own salon by myself for a couple of years. Then after that, I started accepting employees. That’s when the struggle comes in! Having employees to have the same vision and mindset as you. Helps for a less toxic work environment!

Anointed Touch Salon Allen – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Anointed Touch is a place of peace and serenity! I want the clients to feel free and at peace while getting their hair service! My speciality for the last 22 years is restoring the hair back to a healthy state! God has anointed my hands to grow clients’ hair! I am most proud of the young women I have mentored over the years and to see them thriving in their own business! God has blessed me with contracts with local News Stations over the years. Where I serviced local talent. What sets me apart from others is the peaceful atmosphere I provide for my clients!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career is having commercials on T.V. I’m also proud of being able to build a thriving business in The Woodlands and Allen area over the last seven years. So I had to from start scratch in each city. I am truly grateful to God for the opportunities and the open doors over the years!
