Today we’d like to introduce you to Tai Tipton.
Tai, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started freelancing primarily as hairstylist, also providing makeup in Dallas in 2008. I took whatever job I could! I wanted to work in fashion, so I started to build my portfolio and made connections as I worked. I wanted more than anything to do hair for fashion shows and I knew a person who knew a person that knew a person, to get me into working Dallas nightlife fashion shows for a local clothing company! Let’s just say it was a lot of big hair, fashion faux-hawks, and glitter for my first few months! I would do this for free until finally, people started to respect my work and work ethic, I was finally getting paid! I then started to make nice bonds and relationships which fueled my career in a better path, more paid jobs, editorial print and fashion shows that didn’t involve late nights in clubs! I was booking weddings and I fell in love with the brides and the process of helping them out on their big day! I was still struggling financially though. I put in the time, we call “the grind” as most of us artists do! I realized quickly that fashion was not like is on the east coast and west coast. The market is not really fashion that I could make a career out of in Dallas, it was bridal work! Fashion could be a hobby and I could work with all of the amazing artists I respected along the way to give these brides an amazing experience with the quality work we did for our photoshoot work! I was also still diving into editorial wedding work getting published in magazines with some amazing local dress designers! It’s such a great passion of mine to mesh both worlds together.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s not always easy. In fact, I can speak for almost all artists when I say that it takes a lot of time, effort, blood, sweat and a lot of tears. Anything worth working for isn’t always a cake walk. I have always had a dream to help other artists such as myself get jobs doing what they love because I know how hard and long it took me to get to where I am today! It’s not easy making money as an artist all the time but with determination and like-minded peers, you can do anything! Even after taking some time off to have my baby girl, it’s not been the easiest to come back into the world of beauty! Not only now do we all work the weddings but we have to have social media presence as well as competitive pricing with all of the other major talents in the market, make appearances as well as make those important connections to stay on people’s minds. It’s like wearing 7 hats, there are so many different jobs to do! Thankfully, I have a team who helps and is uber passionate to make it go smooth plus they are out of this world talented!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ahimsa Artistry – Bridal Beauty Services – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Man! This company is so special. I have ladies who just want to work! They want to make our clients happy and they want to do what they love! We are offering an approach of using Non-Harm makeup brands in our kits as well as Non-Toxic products as well. We offer a variety of services that include lash extensions, microblading, facials and more! However, our main service we provide is On-Site Bridal Hair and Makeup Services! We travel to our clients and what I love the most is my team is certified through the state of Texas Barbering and Cosmetology except for one of us and she is in Barbering school! This opens us up to offering mobile services to Grooms and Groomsman too! I love that each of us is published artists in print, editorial and commercial as well. We range working in the beauty industry between 8-20 years!! We are seasoned and LOVE to travel to clients. Freelance is so much fun for us! I am very proud to have the little boutique beauty team! They are incredibly talented.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Plans for the future is to keep doing what we are doing and branch out into a full-on agency! My marketing manager Randi Rogers and I would love to house many more artists, helping them get on their feet and become the best versions of themselves through our help! Growth would be our biggest dream with a holistic and mindful approach for our clients.
